  2. Oh how I loled. Looks super awesome! Just run heaps of coats and a thick laquer on it to protect against stone chips?
  3. Speeno has made a special request for karts on this occasion. Maybe we'll check out Daytona? Will be hard on the budget so soon after Nats for those of us who aren't Australian high rollers though...
  4. About 1998 to 2004 shape Holden Astras have a bulky electric pump too. Can't comment on their reliability, but they are relatively cheap and easy to find and the reservoir is incorporated in the pump, so might be good to tuck away somewhere and just run high pressure hoses to the rack. I'm thinking of using an electric assisted column in my track car with a dial to adjust assist as mentioned above. They can be had in this country from later model Holden Barinas
  5. I think the confusion comes from the fact that you can do a certificate, diploma or degree in any of the areas of engineering. People then become a 'mechanical engineer' despite the level of qualification they have earned. The lower ends (like grunta and myself) just refer to ourselves as engineers while the higher end always seems to say something aling the lines of 'bachelor of engineering/degree' etc I think there's also various levels of the certificate, diploma and degree, just to add further confusion. A good idea when looking at qualifications is to talk to people in the industy to find what they'd expect to see and where various quals will get you.
  6. Doesn't quite fit your criteria, but in my opinion has the highest chance of not looking like a crap botch job that it will look if you try to rig something up yourself\ Opel Mantas have an Irmscher Quad Light conversion kit, and the lights are vaguely similar in shape to later model Gemini's, so might look ok? http://forums.mantaclub.org/topic/23791-irmscher-quad-headlight-conversion/
  7. Got this done through Autolign Hamilton. They did a very nice job, $115 all up (2 shocks) and 2 day turnaround. Couldn't believe getting that quality of service tbh.
  8. Less talk about forced induction, more do to get this thing going for nats! Was at the festival of motorsport recently and a radisich telstar was there - the exhaust note - oh my.. It had a standard intake/plenum but still sounded amazing, probably just higher compression and cams.
  9. Whoa! You better take that new grill off, it makes the weather turn to shit.
  10. Do some googling on the subject - surely there would be a better way of cooling the fuel than running it through an oil cooler? Something like a heat sink? How are your fuel lines run? I've always though in cabin or rubber lines would get warmer than metal lines run under the car. Never thought it would cause a problem though. Try running a super full tank and seeing if it takes longer to cause a problem/too jew?
  11. What ever the sort, sounds like it just dropped 6 of its 9 lives..
  12. There is no better option than ITB's!But I conceed, an 1800cc VVT engine might be a better option than ITB's if you are after a decent hike in power So will that be 151bhp over a tired 115bhp not to mention more torque and an extra cog? Sounds pretty decent for $2000, considering that would barely get you an ecu (unless you go megasquirt). I just picked up an ITP kit for a different engine brand new and it consists of the following; Jenvey throttle bodies, plug and play ecu, full loom, all required sensors, coil pack, filter and backing plate with a preloaded map. Maybe some other stuff I've forgotten, but it cost around $3500 and will take my engine from 150bhp to 180bhp. So applying that logic to your engine for ITB's you'd spend nearly twice the money to get less gain. But the sound would be worth it, and if you threw cams at it and possibly bumped the compression up you'd probably be looking at around 150bhp on the 1600?
  13. Just on the E30 coilover fitment, I've found XYZ do quite a cool inverted shock setup for them. It means they fit with plenty of clearance in the rear turrets. I've not seen any cases where people reinforce the lower shock mount for coilover installation. A bit dubious exceeding design capacity that much, but they seem to manage alright.
  14. Welding patches into the C110 with your new found skills/welder won't require much finance.
  15. Spraakalls. Not sure if you are aware yet/have it sorted, but the hub bore on those mini steels is 1mm less than the BMW, so either the steels will need the bore brought out a bit, you will need to run spacers or the hub will need to be spun down a touch.
  16. The one in your avatar looks cooler
  17. How about something like a 350Z V6 tucked behind the front axle line like Mikeys Z. Plenty of power, scope to charge it if required and a nice tidy package. Will still handle well with it in there too. Understand wanting scope for heaps of power but dumping something boring like an SR20DET or something in there will be so poo's. FJ's are choice, but getting hard to find and aren't exactly light.
  18. Agreed. A week ago I never would have thought you'd just have minor electrical faults and afew loose ends to tidy up for a Wof
  19. Most of those questions are answered in various threads by yoeddynz over the last few months. You can also get them in 2 litre if you wanted to stay in that class. From a lantis or possibly a ford probe? There is a grungy 2.5 called a klze that puts out about 200hp from memory, but check them out on wiki for more info. As far as north south, yoeddynz might even be able to help you out with an adaptor plate like his so you don't need to bother with the tricky engineering.
  20. You should go best of both worlds and do a quad cam v6, similar to what yoeddynz is doing with his viva. Would be super awesome in an escort. A cheap 2.5l v6 out of a mondeo/telstar or mazda.
  21. That's what full throttle want to do. It would be cool as a one off, but for a regular thing I would probably rather pay less to get more.
  22. Markku asked them about this. I don't know if the guy was just trying to put a postive spin on them closing down, but he said they are looking at an outdoor venue and purchasing a new fleet of karts. Will be interesting to see how it pans out. They are certainly lacking now, but when it was running right full throttle was by far the best karts I've been to.lol.. beaten.
  23. I just finished cutting it up into tiny pieces yesterday and it is now flat packed on a trailer to be taken to the scrap man this afternoon So not ideal. But I picked up a complete one that I'll just use as a road legal track day car, with my sights set much lower on the final product. Just stripped out with a cage, similar to your car.
