  1. Looking to finish my mazda this year, and one of the last jobs is the exhaust. Car is running a 12a pp. (or not running, as the case may be) I really hate 6 inch round, chrome mufflers on old school cars, but I'm a bit old and still like dump pipes on rotors. So question is, what rear muffler options are there ? Has to be ss packed. Question for the mazda buffs. Stainless or mild steel, for the whole exhaust ? I don't want it sounding too tinny or loud (yes, I know, rotary) basically what I'm after is, what has anyone else done to shut their rotary up without choking it to death. And brand names and pictures of sweet looking rear mufflers. Dump pipes optional. Cheers
  2. Owned an e46 328 for 7 years, one of the best cars I've had. Suspension and diff bushes all had to be replaced, but it was 90mm off the ground, soooo kinda expected. Had only done half the km's of what your looking at when I sold it, but loved driving it every time, so balanced. Parts arn't cheap, but what modern car has cheap parts, and no matter what anyone says, all modern cars have their problems. I use a territory for work, and parts for that thing are fucken expensive, and it needs them always. piece of shit. Wife has a mk5 gti golf, but wont when the warrenty runs out. VW charge double what anyone else would.
  3. Hay Mayson, ya made it here. I can't believe you still haven't been to see the rat yet ! I would have been down to it in a flash. Bit more traffic here than KR too.
  4. Couldn't be arsed doing more wiring tonight, so I got the seats out of their long term home in the storage, and mounted the factory rails to them, and test fitted them.
  5. Cheers for the offer, I've got 3 different wiring schematics and not one of them matches my wiring 100% It's not too bad, I made up my own wiring plans when I pulled it appart and deloomed the engine bay. It's funny how the rx2's are starting to be liked more. 10 years ago, bugger all people wanted a 2, everyone wanted a 3. Always thought the rx2's had a much better styled body.
  6. Poor wee unloved, dirty, mazda.
  7. 8 years after I pulled all the wiring out, today was spent trying to remember how it all went back together. Shit of an idea leaving it that long. Got a fair bit of it done, just have to make a hidden loom to the alternator and distributor. Dash is starting to look better.
  8. That is the best fucken idea ever. why didn't I think of this ?!!! I just wired up my mates new workshop, and that would have been awesome. Way better than the 2 fluros he cable tied to a sack barrow . Damn it.
  9. Few pictures from the show. All pics taken by my wife of what she liked .
  10. Took the old mans vk to the twin rivers, was a good show, would guess 400 cars. Really good variety of cars . Will put up the pictures the wife took up latter.
  11. Yep. you wouldn't take a car too far from home to dump it if it had no suspension or running gear. Very strange they didn't strip it right out, seeing as they had it for so long Feel bad for the owner.
  12. As far as I was ever told, as long as they were bright enough when lit it didn't matter, but you had to have a reflector on the back of the car. So tinting your tail lights voided the reflector. This was all back in the day when we did the old black pantyhose over the tail lights, and my wof man let me off if I put a reflector somewhere else, so I got some small bike reflectors and stuck them to the edge of the number plate. Mind you, that was all back in the day when cops didn't hate on anyone with a modified car, so now I would guess, the wrong cop would still give you shit for them if he felt like it. Ask a wof man.
  13. Is the down side of the mazda rotary. thanks to the high number of knuckle draging, knumbnuts that own them, Mazda NZ don't have a hell of alot of patience for anyone asking questions about parts form them. ( can you imagine some of the calls they get ? ) The best way, I've found, to get taken seriously when asking about parts is to have the part numbers for the parts your after. This page should be helpfull http://foxed.ca/index.php?page=rx7manual I can't say if anything will be available though.
  14. I got my full rubber kit from these guys. http://www.scottsoldautorubber.com.au/ Very high quality, and not too bad price wise.
  15. In regards to your sun faded rear boot panels, I had the same problem with my rear parcel tray plastics. My panel guy had a Wurths product that comes in a spray can that we used, comes out in a fine crackel look, made it look like new, only comes in black mind you. I can find out the product name if your interested. btw, your rx looks amazing, love the og look. Has made me very keen to get an stock rx7, if one ever turns up
  16. I'm not shitting on Andy, I don't even know the guy. I just think he has a very nice ae86, and what he has done, has not done the car any favours. If it is just a tempoary job untill he can find the right sheild, then all good. But the fact that they are not the factory extractors would mean slight mods are not out of the question, and I'd hate to see him make silly mistakes, just for lack of knowledge.
  17. Any reason why you didn't go for heat wrap on the extractors, rather than making up that heat sheild ? It would appear you want to keep the car original, but with subtle mods, and that sheild is anything but subtle. I don't mean to sound like a twat, and I'm sure the sheild will work, but it looks a bit shit.
  18. This it ? very sweet looking coon if it is
  19. I've got wilwoods on mazda 626 discs all designed to fit behind 13's (even though I pimped it out with 15's) they are a tight fit and I orignally put longer studs in so I could run a slim spacer. Les Hunter would be the man to talk to, he helped me with mine, brackets etc .
  20. After spending the morning doing one of my least favourite jobs, braided lines. And nervously drilling holes in my nice flat firewall. I finally made some progress on the poor old girl.
  21. You could try palmside http://www.palmside.co.nz/index.html, they do great work.
