  1. Project thread for your viewing pleasure.. //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/50308-jeds-73-hq-kingswood-deluxe/
  2. Well. Probably a premature post, & an unobtainable deadline for me but here goes... I'm giving myself 10 weeks today to get this car all tarted up & on the road. Why 10 weeks?...meh, well just cos..for now. Now I'm not renowned for meeting these kinda deadlines with cars/work/etc... I've had this car since March this year & I said (to whoever was listening at the time) I'd get it on the road by Xmas, & I still haven't started cos of life & always other things going on. Belonged to a mate of mine I met thru crossfit & found out about it when he brought his mint little SSS in one day & mentioned he had a '73 HQ he was contemplating moving on (pic for reference & requisite drool).. This is how it sat when I first saw it (and fell in love with it).. I've always wanted a '73 HQ. Grew up riding in the back seat of mum & dad's HQ Comm. Games car, year I was born, yadda yadda yadda.. Meant I had to downsize the collection (of rusty cars), so I sold the HQ race car, HJ one tonner, FJ40 Landcruiser & Torana sedan. Felt good to downsize to be honest & in reality when would I ever get around to getting all these cars done?? Here's where it sat for a few months while the shed was being built.. In transit to it's new abode..fun stuff doing this shit by yourself & trying not to hit anything.. Yawn..
  3. Yep still keen as, hoping the date will tie in with me not having all the kids - this will determine my cruising abilities afterward. Shed is clean & organised, lots of junk to look at/fondle..
  4. I'll vouch for the POR tank sealer kit. Used it on one of my Harley tanks when the previous stuff I used (can't remember the name - was white rubberised stuff) wasn't applied properly & started rusting underneath the coating. Cleaned off the old stuff best I could, did the prep & applied the POR product & it was good as gold.
  5. Haha, thanks man. It's been a journey that's for bloody sure but nearly all done. Big thanks to Styles too for the couch - perfect addition for the communal area. Positioned perfectly for just sitting & staring at my cars & not getting a lot done
  6. Shelves & benches were finished off a few weeks ago, just finally got around to running that cable so I could set everything up. I'm really happy how it's all turned out. The idea was to put something together with what I already had, & getting the Metrapanel boards was the final piece to the puzzle. Already had the steel, & this way I could build what I wanted the way I wanted it Had to lift the shelf up with the engine crane it was that fucken heavy! 2.4 x 2.4 & could do with more intermediate shelves but for now it works for me.. Pic's of shelves & benches all finished.. I did have a couple of steel shelves that you can see in the background of one of the previous pic's, but they looked like shit. What I've made is so much more purdy. All I gotta do now is fix down the vice & make some stands out of some wheel rims & steel pipe for the drill press & bench grinder so they're off the work bench
  7. Thanks for all your suggestions.. much appreciated I've run 3 phase neutral screen to the shed so all good there. Got at mate at Cory's so got a good deal and will get all the other electrical stuff thru him as well.
  8. Been a while. Need motivation (and other non car related projects around the place to go away).. Finally laid a cable... Big thanks to everyone's help & advice on this subject. Now just gotta find an electrician (and some money) to do the business to the ends. Luckily for now the sun is bright & my extension lead is long Sorted out the retaining wall outside the PA door. Went from this.. To this.. Still gotta put a couple more posts in beside the shed & build a little lean to roof for shelter / outside communal area. I'm still tidying up inside the shed from when I mass dumped all my crap in there a few months ago. I've built some shelves outta this high density board I picked up for a dollar. A guy said it's the stuff they use to build prison walls out of so should be strong enough. Next update, pic's of shelves, benches & a dart board
  9. The first pic of the glitter tank looks like a solar system man....grooovy
  10. This came up on a Turners auction a coupla months ago..thought it was a funny lookin holden barina at the time
  11. Insert 350 chev here...
  12. I don't know anything about these ute's specifically, but the white wellside looks 100% better than the green one, as the wheel arches match the fronts for a start. On the green one it doesn't look the same, but they're some pretty crappy photo's so not a good selling point by the supplier if he's trying to get you to go for the newer improved version..
  13. Caterpillar yellow is such a nice colour. You should now adorn you air cleaner with the appropriate signage..
  14. Sounds like a good plan.. I'm only a couple of minutes off the expressway so no great detour for the great southern migration of Aucklanders..
  15. I'd like to offer my she'd for the tour but I feel that it's a bit out of the way for a Hamilton or Auckland circuit being based in Te Kauwhata.. Please feel free to give me your opinion.. I've got big shoulders
  16. Hey man, how much did they sting you for the rear window? Just wondering if their pricing is fair & worth a trip down there to be nosey for my mate's XY...
  17. Good progress mate, are you gonna paint it the original colour? Looks like this colour so this is how you should paint it cos this look looks nice....
  18. Awesome work. It's definitely a great feeling paying someone else to put it together especially when it only takes them a matter of days compared to the weeks it'd take us
  19. Yep I'd be keen on this. I'd happily include my shed too but for some it may be a little outta the way (35-40 min south of Ben & Neals lock up to give you an idea), no drama's either way. Summer is good, & if the stars align (read: if I don't have my kids that weekend) I'll definitely cruise along
  20. Good on ya mate. Great to see you here I find myself lurking around here more than GMHT these days..
  21. I see Karl's Torana hatch there parked by your Viva Alex. A very impressive piece of work that is (I got the supra box from that car to go in mine one day lol). Is he a member on here or just a mate of a member? Would be good to see him here as he has done some pretty cool things to that car over the years
  22. Hahahahahahaha...fuck thats funny
  23. Did the second coat on the floor yesterday. Looks just like the above pic so no point in de ja vu.. Time to start fitting it out & getting my cars in where they belong finally. I hope to get a little bit done over the next few day so watch this space
