  1. Perhaps there is another common species that is a good substitute.
  2. An old geezer once told me that monkey skin makes excellent fuel pump diaphragms. Reckoned an Arab trader in West Africa told him that when he was working for an oil company over there.
  3. Fucking German spelling with a K.
  4. High top just looks weird to me beside normal Combi. Must be getting old. I can remember when there were shitloads of these things getting around.
  5. Just seen this in the Man-cave thread. Looks good. Colour reminds me of a Matchbox model from childhood. There's one on the tard right now. http://www.trademe.co.nz/toys-models/die-casts/matchbox/1970+/auction-1375176090.htm
  6. What's dubious about driving a Marina fast? Grandpa's one went pretty hard back in the day.
  7. I'd love to hear one pulling 7000 rpm. An old geezer in ragtop XJS went through a worksite I was on once and nailed the gas at the works end sign. Such a sweet noise.
  8. Based on that I should have got a cert on my Civic when I swapped the factory 12" steel rims for 13" steels from a slightly later car.
  9. I believe new galvanised chassis are available ex UK, probably stupidly expensive though.
  10. Those Cromodora mags look very cool. A lot like Bathurst Globes.
  11. Is xafordgod still on the tard? Think his real name is Brendan. From Rangiora. Use to have all sorts of different coons and coon stuff. XE might be too new for him though. Also Hinds Garage (at Hinds in South Canterbury obviously) has a lot of obscure shit that might be hard to find anywhere else. Mostly British but I've seen some coon stuff there. The place is like a cross between a hoarder's house and a museum but everything is for sale.
  12. I have no fucking idea what that last question was about.
  13. Saving for Hanmeet. Anyone else from down this way keen on that one?
  14. Anyone know how to make that fermented horse milk stuff they drink in Mongolia? Guess any kind of mammal milk would do.
  15. You should see concrete troughs that have been repeatedly used to store skim milk to feed pigs for many years. So much erosion of the surface / way to get maximum exposed aggregate.
  16. I have an engine that's been seized since the late '80s. Maybe I should try the milk thing on it and see what happens.
  17. This thing just goes to show how a car that looks pretty okay to start with can turn out to be a rusted out shit box when you start having a proper look. All credit to you for saving a sweet old car that many of us would have given up on as being too rusty. How much of the original shell do you / will you have left after all the repairs? Also the turbo wheels really suit it.
  18. I'd recommend going lpg dedicated as @8ball suggests. The 214 powered TK Bedford I had was dual fuel but I ran it on lpg almost all the time for the price advantage. Think I only tried it on petrol twice in the three years I had it and it ran like shit anyway.
  19. But totally fine for what they were designed to be. Morris Minor replacement, round town tradie van.
  20. This thing reminds me of the Mk2 Escort van my ex had in the early '90s. Same colour and similar style but a lot less fucked.
  21. Cheers for that Bryan. GM diff might be the go then to keep it all matching. Probably never happen anyway but dreams are good things.
  22. Back in the day that was my least favourite Viva but, like many things I didn't like much when they were new, the styling has grown on me to the point where I'd have one now in the right circumstances. Alex, you need this to go with the other Vauxhalls. Might be a bit of a fun project for Hannah.
