  1. Mayte Looks like I'm rolling no Wof or reg to the meet tomorrow Algood I'm a Maori officer...
  2. With looking at the photo of the caliper it appears that it has rust under the seal but the rust on the top ridge isnt a huge issue as it only holds the moisture boot best bet would be to get it bead blasted then see how bad the pitting is on the metal but would most likely be fine i would say that the caliper piston has rust on it so would require a new one but you need a caliper rebuild kit anyway. would also recomend doing the rebuild yourself as saves abit $$ plus they are not hard to do.
  3. looks choice! just needs those plates painted black
  4. //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/34643-how-to-add-pictures-to-the-forum/ incase you hadn't already had a read of it Also seen as your wire wheeling up parts then applying paint to them which is great have you considered buying a sand blasting booth like this http://www.trademe.co.nz/building-renovation/tools/airtools-compressors/sanders-sand-blasters/auction-1141087017.htm nice and easy for all those small parts and also removes the rust/paint the part may have leaving a nice surface to paint on because a wire wheel will not remove all the rust mostly just surface stuff keep rolling in with the updates keen to see the end result cheers
  5. I havn't had a look at a ex lancer but could possibly have a electric pump in the fuel tank pull up the back seat and check for a wiring plug or for some screws or bolts in a round shape undo and pull out and pump will be there
  6. Yes only the bits that have been repaired will be repainted yellow respray is on the cards for it but in years to come define a proper patch? ive cut it out just past the rusty patches then welded in one single layer steel but thicker than standard.
  7. would be keen on some updates on this if there has been any that is
  8. Hmm that's the first I've heard of a clutch plate slipping on The spline But I seem to think that the incorrect clutch plate That matches the gearbox spline has been fitted Causing this. As your clutch friction material is always your weakest link In the system. Keep us posted on how you end up removing the Clutch plate from the G box
  9. Nice collection you have there Did you bring all your American cars in from the US yourself? Liking the ke30 but bit bummed your not painting it factory yellow again As i like the factory yellow But that's your choice not mine but like the new colour however
  10. bloody young hoons these days ya know there not made like what they are now days mayte
  11. Good With stuff for patches everyone will have a different opinion on what to use etc But I use a phosphate type coating on patches and bare metal etc Which I think is great shit as you can wipe it off with a rag When it's dry As it turns to a powder form And you can weld over it also And it's a great rust neutraliser
  12. when you are striping all these panels are you coating them with anything straight after they are bare metaled? also body looks in good nick with that small patch of rust i would say go and get yourself a small portable sand blaster and buy some fine grade media like a glass aggregate for all those small bits that need doing all it would require is a air compressor to use it.
  13. previous person who had done work on it used pop rivets to hold all the door rubbers in. only doing the spots that are showing rust atm best thing would be to unstitch the inside of the doors and redo all of it but thats a massive job. remeber you cant stop rust it will always come back in these cars all i can do is pervent it and fix the bits it has.
  14. Thought I better start doing some real work done on this car Like rust repairs Started out by making some patches for one of the doors so they can Be welded in One of the tricks I found on how to create a radius No screwdrivers were harmed in this event Got my Ol mate Jim to keep me going
  15. If neal cant do it for you i could possibly pop down for you im only walking distance away from it anyway
  16. you got any of thooose hiding in one of your dairy's son?
  17. great idea! buuuut i think the only thing i would end up seeing is it going up in flames remember there's heat electricity and fuel vapour's in my engine bay very valid point but generally making bits shiny etc doesnt cost me much mostly 0$$ as i get stuff from work bolt's paint etc but im all go for Function over show
  18. yeah but i cant justify them for that price over 100$ just for very little performance gain and for something that looks good
  19. So plan is Get bits and bobs off over a long course of time and paint or clean them up Decided I would do the water pump pulley So removed it gave it a clean up with a wire brush Then applied some satin black with a couple of coats And left overnight Then fitted the next day with some new shiny bolts And bam! Was going to do the crank pulley and alternator but Didn't have my rattle gun handy to remove them so Will do them some other time.
  20. Decided I would do the Ol Can over the coil trick ow With a classic v can I was going to use a L&P can but didn't have a mint one at disposal So L&P can or keep v can? //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/49713-piazzanoobs-1981-toyota-starlet-discussion/#entry1662785
