If you keep the auto oiler and add a tiny bit of oil to the fuel you should be ok, if you remove the auto oiler it might seize going down steep hills? Not 100% sure on that though.

Tech Spam thread - because 1/4" BSP gets 5 hand spans to the jiggawatt

Is this the right thread to ask about what to do if someone loaded a trailer with too much and bent the axle? Round mild steel tube. Not keen on flipping the axle and loading up the weight to see if the camber corrects itself nor fitting spacers and pretending it's supposed to be that way. A press and some beefy channel maybe? -
Is it possible to shorten a shaft by heating it at the place you want to expand it while pressing it? It would need re-hardening then huh?

(Not specific to thread lingpost style question) Why have wastegates instead of an intake pressure release valve that makes hilarious noises? This question arose at 2 am

My theory is sills get creased in on curbing and filled with bog is the result. -

i thought cold bending was the approved method as long as the metal had not been stretched in any way? -

What people think i say "Heat white hot and anneal in air, then hacksaw halfway through it in the middle of the arm and drill holes near the ball joint end, then heat white hot and drop in a bucket of ice water, fill hacksaw cut and holes with bog and watch it fall apart in 10 minutes." Pretty sure if i said make a new arm out of inch thick plate with a CNC they would still think it was promoting fiberglass wheel bearing retainers or something. -

Ford I-beams. Thousands bent by hotrodders, most people don't use heat on jap' car parts though. -
Please say you are still going to put a fake browning .30MG and a dummy ammo belt coming up through the front guard like in the picture? Don't see that style on the road anymore.

Use minimal heat it should be ok, toyotas are better quality than the cheap (china spec usually) steel that goes brittle. As long as you don't soak it at white hot heat for 48 hours the carbon won't boil out. -

Flatheads are cool. Have you considered boosting the power with willpower? i find that helps. Or a blower. Adapt something for forced induction.

Did i give you a colour screen that might work?

So today i put a bag of tools in the boot of my car. On the way home i get out at the gas station, close the car door and there is a slightly different sound coming from the boot, the echo was not right. To my surprise i open the boot and find my gas tank has migrated to the top of my tool bag and is no longer secured or plumbed into anything. Sweet! this means my car is powered by will alone. After removing the gas tank i see my bag of tools is sitting on my gas tank, screwed down and plumbed in as per normal. Looking over at the tank i just removed i notice it's not the same one, simply very very similar. Thanks for the spare gas tank mystery person!

It is not that i don't want to cert' it, it is that i want to register it as genuinely old and do modifications later then get cert's for them at one time. Road use would be nice, because i don't get out to car shows or that dust up thing, even though i'd like to. -

Yes the A based axle is what i aim to use in a later version. Was hoping to make basically stock vehical at first. This one is stock-ish componants, but lower with different wheels. Thought it looked alright. -

This is progress right? Just so you know i'm not making this up out of my head. i even had a workshop weld the steering column mount. This is a new floorboard riser thing, i made it myself and had someone redo my welds because my welder kinda died. Only 2 exit wounds that i can find but little bullet shaped dents are evident in the dash and firewall, focusing on the gas tank. -

Would be keen to get used laser ignition systems from car wrecks and fit them to oldschool cars for something to try, but what happens if they are using focused fiber and oil fouling happens? Guess single beams could fouling off but a single beam becoming unfocused sounds like a way to melt holes in pistons. -
My whitewalls come in a can, applied with a brush. On youtube some guy made whitewalls smoother with a flapdisk on a grinder before painting but i don't really like the idea of thinning my sidewalls.

Hmm.. i might go if there is offers of BBQ or something. Doesn't look like my car will be ready though, maybe next year. Should those of us without cars bring chopped up/lowrider type bikes like in the bike thread?
