Don't change any axles and don't Z/notch the frame and it shouldn't be classed as a new build. This is fairly correct and good advise. Get the note from the son asap

How did i notice this only now? Cool find but i hate to think what else they're chucking out. Almost sure you're thinking bradford/jowette products. -

Ugh, close enough. Cant be bothered fitting it better at the moment. Think i'll sand the paint off though. -
i've seen 2 4cyliner cranks cut to make a 6 but it wasn't easy... /ling

Starter motors range from really easy to fix, to almost impossible. Old fashioned lucas ones tend to be easy. Which type do you have/need?

Except drive it. That much tyre rub would immobilize it pretty quick.

Ok i need a second opinion. Didn't realize how bad the sloping hinge line looked until i started making this. Should i make this hinge level or just go with the unskilled dirtcar racer look sloping hinge? At the low rate of investment i'm leaning toward unskilled sloped hinge but it'll always look redneck. Why a hood? So i can put it on if it rains or want to hide the fact it's a 4 (as if the sound wasn't a give away) -
Yes i would plumb the vacuum advance in as you said and leave the atmosphere vents as they are. Sounds about right.

Why? Did you see the light & buy british? -
From oil based paint enthusiasts i hear it;s shitty. i haven't tried it myself but if it's like spray paint in a can i'd agree..

Use a separate battery for the starter motor to see if the spark is not happening while cranking for an electrical related reason (switches, relays and in the old days isolating in line resistors when they were not externally jumpable.)
-
Have you tried using normal battery for ignition and jumping the starter with a separate battery and wiring? (even jumper leads)

One time i set backlash with newspaper. Wind it closer until a piece of newspaper gives some resistance. Worked well for an old car. -
i have an axle like that, sort of. If you need spares for some reason.

Is this on this month? -
Didn't know that stuff existed so i spent hours hours cutting thin sheet metal and exhaust wrap and folding the edges over where the layers meet to seal the wrap center from hot gasses. You won't have to do that from the sounds of it.
