  5. Well that was a cool meet with a nice little impromptu cruise. Welcome to Keefy who came all the way from England. I tried to take some pics but the camera had a flat battery - Fail. Stay tuned for something a bit different next month.
  6. I have come accross a few cars with a wrong number on VIN plates when doing WOFs. It isn't really a problem in that respect. Is the Jag reg on hold? If so I don't think it will be a problem. Best to talk to someone at VINZ/VTNZ tho.
  7. While we are talking trade and exchange... KK remember super sweet vette plates and I will remember the Charlie Ash.
  8. I am triple booked for thursday night so I may be late but I will be there. Guna have to miss free beer and bbq to attend so there better be a great turnout.
  9. Have a look around the steering column with a torch.
  10. It would pay to check the flasher unit as well. It should be near the cabin fuse box.
  11. Lack of fuel / running lean could be caused by a few things. If you screw the mixture screw in it makes it lean, screw it out makes it rich (at idle). If you can get a vacuum gauge it will make it easier to set the idle mixture. Start a bit rich then screw it in until the gauge needle just starts to drop from max vacuum, then screw out 1 quarter turn. This only sets the idle mixture. Sounds like you are running lean constantly if you need to use the choke. This could be caused by a bit of dirt in the carb. Best bet is to take the top of the cab off and blow out all the passages with compressed air.
  12. Also, what do you mean "explosions in the plastic"? Is that in the dizzy cap? It is probably worth giving the car a good tune up with new points, condenser, rotor, cap, leads, plugs. Set your valve clearances too. I am assuming some of this stuff may be new to you. If so get a workshop manual, sit down and have a read. Setting points and stuff can be tricky for a beginner but it is part of regular maintenance of an old car, so if you can DIY you'll save yourself $$ and diagnose problems when it stops on the side of the road at night in the rain.
  13. Keep up the good work my man. Why do you want to ditch the roof racks? Also, looks like there was an air diffuser thingy on the back at some stage. Do you sill have it?
  14. If the distributor was loose you will need to set the ignition timing with a timing light. Sounds like your also not getting enough fuel. Would pay to chuck in a new fuel filter for a start
  15. ^ Fuck that is choice! ^ Any more pics?
  16. That is a nice parts collection you are accumulating. The TH700 will certainly help with your fuel economy obsession. Have you got glass for it or will it need to be made?
  17. Plus, you can't corrupt your fine GM product with a Ford fan. Lucky you got one out of a Volvo and not a Taurus.
  18. The more the merriererer. Always good to see some new faces / old cars.
  19. December details, //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/41257-wellington-monthly-meet-thursday-19th-december-shelly-bay/ You can always find it in the 'lower north island' section //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/forum/14-lower-north-island-region/
  20. Does this make any one else think of LEGO?
