  1. They are good frinds of mine, they can forge anything you want, don't mention that crow bars and springs are the same to them tho
  2. http://www.forger.co.nz/ Kim and Ian neilson can probley make a sprind but they won't harden it
  3. I do alot of artist blacksmith work, I have made springs but allways had them hardened professionally,I reversed the eyes on a set of leafs recently, you can cut hard spring steel with a grinder, drilling it is quite hard but you can use a masonry drill bit if you sharpen it. If you get the spring steel too hot it cracks when you bend it and it burns realy easly, using a forge to heat. not a gas torch
  4. I got a 27 piece 3/4 drive socket set for $100 from miter10 its not the best quality but I use it all the time and the big sockets are huge, they make good seal and bearing drivers.
  5. Ricardo combustion chamber I have tried putting the plug over the piston on a side valve motor that had a bung for seting the timing, it ran like a bag of shit.
  6. Behind the salvation army, I saw a place with spiderwebs on there logo, didn't catch the name tho.
  7. Is that your shop in gleneden in the back street?
  8. The blacking in the top and sides of a valve is no worry, it happens when they activate the "Getter" when they make them.
  9. That cylinder holding down system looks good, do you have much in the way of Villers parts? Looking for some bits for a MK9D
  10. I would worry about the cylinder snapping off at the flange, seen this happen to a J.A.P. motor
  11. LOL, they are longish, fit about 2 people, have a few patchups, you could join 2 togeather and make a pontoon. I am still in japan so can't get to them for pics
  12. There are 2 of them in the grass at my grandmothers place, we don't use them anymore, are you far from auckland?
  13. I use to make huts with asbestos sheets, I use to smash a line of holes with a hammer and then snap it to make the sizes I wanted, at my friends house he had a ceiling sprayed with asbestos cement, we would chuck shit at it and make the snow fall down. this was about 25 years ago, I had bad chest pain a few months ago and had a couple chest Xrays but it was all clear. I know an old guy who worked in an asbestos mine in Quebec and then for James hardy asbestos products and he is fine, but then a friends friend was a plumber and is fucked from it.
  14. I could probley score you a sweet fiberglass Canoe for this if you want?
  15. A friend of mine had a VW beach buggy that seized up, in the end the piston had to be smashed and chiseled out of the bore.
  16. We use to do this at uni tec, I am not sure of the chemicals we used but it used a car battery and a big slide variable capacitor, we were doing nickel plating, it only took a few mins for it to work, had to start the amps low then build them up or it would turn black. You don't really want to have the shit you do chrome plating with around your house, its toxic
  17. Found the problem this is a Maintenance Free bratty, the caps in the top have been added by the factory for testing with a hydrometer, they never need topping up apparentley. I topped it up, that's why the cell is leeking, what a dumb arse.
  18. PM sent you need to fab a set of extractors
  19. Its an Endurant with the caps to top it up, i just did about 40kms round town and tested it agearn got 14.4 volts and the battery was gassing like hell, I will take it back tomorrow as it has a 3 year warranty and its been in the car for 12 months
  20. Yes 14.5 was the max it went to, I think it is boiling out just one or two cells
  21. I got a new car battery last winter sometime, it has been good but the other day I opened the bonnet and it has been leeking out the caps like it has been boiling, I tested the voltage with the car running switching the headlights on and off but it never went over 14.5 volts. Would a battery do this is it is failing?
  22. The 1976-79 intake manifold flows better than the older ones and moves the carbs away from the exhaust , I have an exhaust manifold you can have if you want it, you could try acid etching the inside
  23. I got that green shit in my new water pump to, I had it pull it off after a week as i pinched a seal, I can only guess it was from poring in concentrated antifreeze then adding water and letting the car sit over night before I started it.
  24. so you don't turbo all your fuel air mix out the other end
  25. I did that yesterday alot of them don't have the MF stamped on them or on the box,
