Old brakes did not seem too worn but hey new brakes, tyres, led bulb and indicators all at the same time is good.

felixx
Hi VG - mbike https://www.mbike.co.nz/search-results?q=exhaust&type=products&collections=Exhausts 1
felixx
So @mo999 noticed my swingarm has a bend to the left. I put a 2.75" rear wheel and got some guard rub on the tyre at hanmeet. today I pulled the wheel to put a packer in to try and pull the rear wheel over. I guess my 50 yr old cush drive does not like the power of the 125cc
felixx
So yesterday I was grabbing 4th gear in this when the front wheel locked up. (Will be checking brakes later), but I think my dront guard moved and fouled something. Anyway I flew over the bars and did the rolly polly thing. (One toe is purple and my upper body aches) Anyway on the 500m ride home(1st gear, 10kmh) I a fair amount of oil. (200ml drained in 10.min at home) Luckily I had a new, unrun lifan 125 put aside (well purchased on tuesday) So I jammed it in. It ran for 2 min on 1/4 throttle after a reluctant start. (Used ether) But the exhasust header got very hot and the bike wouldnt idle. I tried lifting ttheneedle 2 notches and cannot get her to start. I wonder if there is a timing issue or something
felixx
Also my new engine has 428 pitch sprockets, so I will go to.mbike and get a new rear and chain this week. New rear shocks are ordered. I will get some fronts from ali then all.mechanicals and electrics are new.
GregT
That hot pipe suggests it's retarded. Does it have a mechanical adv/retard or is it done in the ignition box ? I've struck a Suzuki setup where swapping the pickup wires over gave fixed full advance. All wiring correct ?
felixx
How do I check the timing? Im pretty ignorant. Motor is lifan and loom is all lifan /china spec.
GregT
See if there are any marks on the flywheel. T forTDC F with possibly two marks -full advance one end and idle/retard at the other. Then put a timing light on it. As a minimum it should advance as the revs rise. If it doesn't I'd contact the seller and see about a swap. felixx
Those marks are on the flywheel. But I cannot get her running to use a timing light. I guess I better get a bloke in lol
felixx
Well @GregT came round and we got her running. But only with the choke on. Thank you @GregT. I appreciate your help Idle speed screw all the way in, so idle should be fast..
Raizer
You likely just need a bigger pilot jet. Or better still a non China carb.
felixx
I cleaned the carb again. Got it going better but she whistles. Is that inlet or exhaust??
GregT
I thought it was inlet. An air leak would explain a lot.

GregT
Nothing wrong with a good coat of RTV each end of that manifold.
