be4ver
Ok so I had a pretty good fuck up and I put attached a vacuum line to a water line, filled my engine with water and proceded to try and start it. It didnt start. So hoping that I havent cracked the head or anything what can I do to get the water out of the bores? I took the intake mani off and emptyed that haha and removed plugs and cranked the shit out of it. But I feel there is still probably a bit of water in there? Will I need to replace the oil now too or should that be ok? I cant see water on the dipstick.
AllTorque
Has the oil level gone up on the dipstick?

SOHC
A frind of mine did this with a 300zx.it broke a rod when it started If it didnt hydro lock no harm should have been done
flyingbrick
If the motor wasn't running when it happened then I think you'll be OK dude. There's not enough power in the starter to crack a head. If you have pulled the plugs and removed as much water as you can.... I'd try fire it and see what happens - but that's just me.
AllTorque
Should be ok then. Nothing should bend if the motor was just turned over at starting speed. An oil change wont hurt but get it hot first and any moisture should evaporate, as long as the oil is not milky.
be4ver
It was supposed to be the first start! I dont even know if it was gonna run or not. Iy did about 2 cranks before the starter couldnt turn the engine anymore
be4ver
Just put new oil and filter it about 5 mins before hand too
AllTorque
You could drain the oil and see what comes out. If there is water in there it will come out first.
yetchh
If it just sucked water into the bores while cranking you'd be ok, as above just remove plugs the rest will disappear when running
h4nd
Yeah, I know this one: Tow your car out of the river. Plugs out, crank. (optional, drain oil, replace with grotty 2nd hand diesel oil) Re-start. Put brick on throttle for high idle to dry it out while you have lunch. Drive home.
be4ver
Thanks for all the help guys! I drained all the oil out, turns out there was a fair amount of water in it. Luckily the new oil hadn't made it to the new filter yet! Was pretty gutting going back to rapeco today to buy more oil at full price that was 45% off the day before! Anyway I got it running today and the engine isn't fucked. WOOOO!!
SOHC
If you keep the oil oil you could put it in a pot and heat it till the water boils off LOL
flyingbrick
Fuck just leave it sitting so it separates completely and tip the oil off the top and throw the oiley water away. No point heating it.. Oil gets hot in engine anyway
japawagons
Think of it as collateral damage and be done with it. Global Financial Crisis is over didn't you hear??
