Some ITB would be fun :p Can run whatever in the 0-1400cc class. But to run in classics class (this car has a Certificate of Description so is eligible) I'm not so sure about EFI. It's been proven many times with a EFI K-series motor is go about the same as when on carbs, so its hard to see the 1000's investment in ECU and wiring would be worthwhile. Probably cheaper to go 1nz - ignoring the fact that we'd spend 100's of hours getting it mounted and running. Hard to know what the right next move is, but it would be great if it made getting out competing simpler.
mjrstar
A bit more than your 1400cc but I reckon a g16e would fit pretty nicely.

Even a basic 4efte would make it pretty exciting. But all requires money and effort. Sometimes I think it's could be better to sell it and we both start again with basic and reliable toyota/honda fwd cars. Way less effort, but not as cool.
