punkoutnz
So much inspiration, and I must say they look less complicated in person than they did in my head. Bloody good job Jeff!
Chris.QCR
Looks bloody awesome ! I built 50 teardrop campers when I was doing my apprenticeship . Cool wee things. Reckon I might whip one up for my slamiler to make it more useful.
Ned
50!? all for NZ market? didnt realise there were that many about. Word on the street was that there was like a dozen or 2. Got any more details on the ones you built?
Spencer
Seems like a pretty silly thing to assume/believe Ive seen 4-5 of them IRL so there has to be quite a few out there.
Chris.QCR
They were a small production run and were very basic with room for a double bed and and a opening in the back like bantams one for a small gas cooker and a little sink with a 40l tank underneath with a 12v pump . Very simple and all plywood construction with 0.9mm alloy skin . I'll dig thru my apprenticeship photos and see what I can find .

Bantam
Sealed the ply with a few coats of poly. Got some sheets of 20mm insulation and started to fit 2 layers of it. Running the wires for lights and USB ports.
flyingbrick
Awesome man. U insulating the sides too?
Bantam
Awesome man. U insulating the sides too? Nan, the next one maybe. You have to use 3 layers of ply to it, the middle one being a 18mm cutout frame with polystrene in it. Only plan to use it in summer. NVMPAJ
Just be sure your wire is resistant to the poly , House wire reacts to it . By the looks of your wire it looks to be a different insulation , so should be fine
Bantam
Fitted some lights, all working well. Hope to fit hatch light and USB port on Sunday. Will finish the insulation now and get ready to skin exterior.

Bantam
Decided to fit opening louvres to the door. Framed up the door and inside frame 90mm ply. Need to machine some Kauri 45x45mm to fit in the opening, then fit the ali louvre carrier to that.
flyingbrick
So nice. The slats won't let through a breeze Even when closed?
Bantam
So nice. The slats won't let through a breeze Even when closed? No, they have fur seal up sides and will be fitted into a rebated moulding. I can stick some Raven seal to blades if needed. Got to vent the dutch oven it will become after curry and beans somehow.

Bantam
Fitted the louver blade carriers and frame today. Ran up some Fijian Kauri I had laying under the house into profiles to suit. I will order some clear perspex 150mm x 6mm blades to fit. Every thing is just dry fitted atm, will seal everything before gluing. Now to hang the door. Cheers
