RoverP6B
Any shops that can recalibrate a cable- drive speedo? I have replaced a Borgwarner 35 Auto with a Toyota 5 speed and the ratios are wrong: easiest way is to pop the speedo out of the dash and have the gearing changed: used to be a specialist in Oz, but he is retired now, another shop in South Island but I have lost their address... any help appreciated! CUL8R
^ They've fixed some tacho's before for me, Gal dropped them off, were pretty reasonable in their pricing for that. Bart will also attest
Valiant
E. Parrott & Son are pretty helpful. You might be able to change the gear on your speedo drive too.

Vintage Grumble
Anyone have any idea of what they do/how much it costs to have a speedo sorted? The 86 is currently 30kmh out, and will soon be worse when I change the diff.
Vintage Grumble
Well to answer your question VG, for a mid 80's corolla, with a cable driven speedo, they can make up a cute little correction gear box that goes between the gear box and the speedo cable for around $190-240. If you dont care about the ODO being out, they can piss round with the magnets in the drive and correct the speedo only for around $100, but if they over demagnetize the drive, they cant remagnetize it, so they cant gar-in-tee that method will work churley. Also, to have the correction box made, they just need to know how far out the speedo is, so just use a few GPS devices to get a good reading of how far out it it at say 100kmh. Regards, VG.
