M_C
After watching WRC and having the car pretty much ready to go I am KEEN to get out on a track day or similar. Anyone heading out to a track day, motorkhana etc? What events and dates are coming up? Auckland car club May newsletter has: "For those of you who have a clubsport licence we are having a Clubsport event on 1st July at Hampton downs working with the Historic Racing Club, it comprises a bent sprint, hillclimb, and a motorkhana at the same venue you can enter online at www.motorsportentry.com and the cost is $75.00 and will run all day, ideal for your first Motorsport event, the add is in this news letter also." http://aucklandcarclub.com/i/images/May%202012%20LR.pdf May be a push to get my clubsport licence by then, but I am sure is possible. Thousand Dollar Supercar
You can often buy a day license at these type of events. Also I hear there's a way to print out proof of having applied for a license online, which you can use until the real license arrives. I'm doing the Fiat Club Waikato Tarmac Series thingy, though that's five separate events on different months and the first (motorkhana) has already gone. The next one (autocross at the Hampton Downs skid pan) is on the 8th of July. http://www.fiatcarclub.co.nz/
R3spct
You can get a clubsport day licence on the day for $
ryanfels
I was just told you need to be a member of a car club to do that day

The Autocross is fantastic amounts of fun! You don't need a clubsport lic if it's your first 2 events. To get a clubsport lic you need to be part of a MSNZ affiliated club (tons around and costs vary from $10 to $100's). Clubsport lic is $60 a year. http://fiatcarclub.co.nz/ Portfolio: http://fiatcarclub.co.nz/wp-content/upl ... ticles.pdf Series Entry Form in pdf format: http://fiatcarclub.co.nz/wp-content/upl ... ank-12.pdf Series Entry Form with Drop Down fields: http://fiatcarclub.co.nz/wp-content/upl ... -downs.doc Autocross Supp Regs Pt 2: http://fiatcarclub.co.nz/wp-content/upl ... egs-12.pdf Autocross Entry Form: http://fiatcarclub.co.nz/wp-content/upl ... ank-12.pdf Autocross Entry Form Drop Downs: http://fiatcarclub.co.nz/wp-content/upl ... -downs.doc

drtdvl
A lot of events like the hillclimbs, bent sprints, dual sprints, etc... Typically require the clubsport lic. There are places like stm that run non Motorsport nz sanctioned events also. They tend to be the track based events - much like private trackdays. This is how the drifting events started, if I remember correctly.
Truenotch
MC - I think you'd be lucky to get through motorsport scrutineering with your rollcage. Regardless, you can do your clubsport license on the day - fill out the form, pay the money, go skidding and the card will show up around week later. M_C
My cage is definitely a no go on the compliance side! Am planning to do some basic track days and club sport stuff where a cage is not compulsory. When stepping up a level the cage will come out and a proper one go in. I want to talk to the organizers before turning up about the car to make sure they are happy, hoping that a cage with good lines and crap welding is OK for basic stuff rather than cutting cage out to do same event. I have left a message with Chris from Hampton and waiting for a call back.
JoKer
you wont be able to do anything with a non compliant cage dude not even an Auto-X

drtdvl
There is a playday on track session this Saturday and the fiat car club dual car sprint on this Sunday at Hampton downs. I know the dual car is full and the are having to let people know they can't come even tho they have entered and possiblely paid. Should be interesting apparently a max of 72 entries is allowed! mikuni
What time does the dual sprint start on Sunday Heath? I might try and stop by, should be quite a lot of cool cars there.
drtdvl
It's all day. I think normally it kicks off about 9:30 - I'm usually there from 8:30. I know Andy (from Cambridge that's golf caught on fire) is coming to watch / pick shit up on Sunday also
