Vintage Grumble
Anyone got a heads up on where to get white walls from? Keen to get propper ones, rather than have std tyres walled. Cheers, VG.

Vintage Grumble
Cheers boss, i'll hit up the local dealer, but do they only do that one style? I'm after the big wide suckers like this,
Beaver
these guys might e worth a shot http://www.targetroadtyres.co.nz/classic-tyres.html or these http://www.classic-tyres.co.nz/antique/page05.html can imagine it would start getting pretty costly once you get into the proper thick ones (ie intended for vintage cars etc)
Vintage Grumble
That target place may be the go, as the classic tyres place seems to sell full on OG tyres, cheers boss.
KKtrips
Haha - my original post said Target Tyres in Tauranga but I couldn't find a listing online for them in Tauranga so I deleted it thinking they must have closed.. Turns out they are on the North Shore after all that.. D'OH

Vintage Grumble
I was trying to remember who posted about/where to get them flappers? Can you get them in a big wide stripe?
Beaver
all/most flappers are wide(ish) eg this spec http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-par ... 140929.htm
Vintage Grumble
This place also, www.basisnz.co.nz so im told, I guess a flapper would make the most sense, as they are reuseable, and real white walls are pricey, and need a fair bit of work to keep them lush/they will quickly look shit as the car will live out side. Vintage Grumble
I have heard of him also, he lays the rubber into a std tyre I believe? I'm pretty keen on these flapper things TBH, prolly the cheapest and easiest way to go.

spiderwebfx
Heard some good reveiws out of the guys in rotovegas , think this is himhttp://www.mcstripes.co.nz/mcstripes.php?action=items He doubles as Chance Cars who sell a range of people movers. Almost every vehicle sold at there yard has a)1/2" white walls on the tyres, and random vinyl on the side. I don't know if they do any bigger than 10mm, but he has a machine that does it properly. With real white wall tyres, BG World Wheels are a NZ wholesaler for white wall/lettering tyres. Pretty much do every oldschool tyre out there. But they cost mega $$$. I can price but the flappers would be a MUCH cheaper option and are reusable. Check out this catalogue from there website to get an idea on what they do. -Chris
Unclejake
The guy I used was Peter Woodend, Classic Tyres Services, Tauranga. They were spendy but. Also: I have had flappers wear major grooves into the sidewalls of tyres on three occasions. I think they are dangerous as..... but perhaps it was just me/where I live and the wheel/tyre combo that did it.
Vintage Grumble
Cheers for the info chaps! UJ, I wonder if a bit of silicon or something under the flapper may stop "flapping"/side wall damage?
