Chickity
Gotta de-wallpaper the kitchen for painting before the new one arrives in the not too distant future. Wanting to borrow a steamer to help complete the task. Will trade beer/a hoon on Chris etc.
Taistorm
Pretty sure you can warehouse them for under $50. Had to do like 5 rooms at my gf's house 2 years ago, was such a cunty job. The steamer shat itself afterwards though.
xsspeed
50 bucks eh, thats quite cheap for a burn on chris
Chickity
Yeah, don't really wanna buy one to do a single room, especially since it's the only room where I'll be removing the paper, so will never get used again.
glen
just hire one.
Chickity
Then I have to get it back to the hire place. Will use bucket and sponge if there isn't one available for borrowing. Its not pivotal.
DodgySam
dear god dont steam it. Will only make the job harder! Pull off the paper by hand then use a rag soaked in water and dish washing detergent. Get the backing paper good and wet and just peel it off. Its easy as. Im doing the same thing at the mo too. felixx
Torch the house? Two things I hate, wall paper and paint! Just wait for chch quakes to come north, EQC will pay for it!
Chickity
Heh, pretty sure the quakes won't arrive before the new kitchen, so that's probably not a viable option. Will be wetting and peeling. Not that there was any time this weekend. Vege garden, dog sitting and various other errands pretty much dominated all available time. Ned
use one of those weed sprayer things with water and dishwashing detergent and get it nice and wet. Let sit for a little while to soak in nicely and simply pull the paper off Also, not too wet because you don't want it to soak into the Gib as you'll pull it to shreds. Just try a bit befind the fridge first until you get the right wet-ness. I haz a spray thing if you want a hand in the weekend? Will work for beer/potatoe salad?
