eskie77 Posted September 18, 2011 Share Posted September 18, 2011 hey been doing a bit of work on my escort over the weekend and noticed the engine sump sits on the steering rack.The engine mounts are spaced out with steel but still not enough to clear the sump.Can you get longer engine mounts for to clear the sump and are they 1600 ones or 1300 ones or what lol.The engine im running is a 1600 any help greatly appreciated Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
peteretep Posted September 18, 2011 Share Posted September 18, 2011 There are different length mounts for each side, it sounds like you should find some and try some different arrangements. Sorensin Posted September 18, 2011 Share Posted September 18, 2011 Hey when I did a 1600 conversion to my mk1 I had this problem after much research I found that I did have the correct two engine mounts and both on the same side, my issue was my sump. Some of th cortinas have the bowl on the oppisite side to the escort but theres one that has the same side but its a larger bowl and sits on the steering rack. pusherman Posted September 19, 2011 Share Posted September 19, 2011 with mine i needed cortina rubbers just drill and bolt on to the existing mount. actually ended up re drilling them lower to help gearbox clearance in the tunnel. as for sump it makes a hell of a racket when you bolt a 1300 sump to a 1600 but nothing a hammer and dolly didnt fix Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
