Esky_addict
Ive been searching through the forum about widened steels and havent found anyone who has made a set themselves. Does anyone here have experiance in making them??
Beaver
im not aware of anyone who has made them themselves. you would have to be pretty keen/skillful, as its not something to just mash together. for the 300 odd buks and peace of mind id just get them done professionally (as I have done in the past). also if you want to ge them certed, which 'legally' you have to, I dont think they would like home made jobies
Esky_addict
Yeah i jumped in and started making a set myself before i realised there were the like of elite wheels and them kind of outfits around that actually do it. Just wondering how much a standard rim runs out as i never checked them before i started.

Esky_addict
Did you band them or put centers in a wider rim
Bling
Unless you're a ticketed welder I don't think its a good idea... That said, you're in Gore so not likely to crash into me so go nuts.
kierbear
im not aware of anyone who has made them themselves. you would have to be pretty keen/skillful, as its not something to just mash together. for the 300 odd buks and peace of mind id just get them done professionally (as I have done in the past).also if you want to ge them certed, which 'legally' you have to, I dont think they would like home made jobies du they have to be certed? so far i have gotten away with it?/ so far my WOFs have been pretty semi-legit
eke_zetec_RWD
a good wide rim should be very hard to tell it has even been done.

JasonK
probably just one of those things that never gets picked on unless your wof man is hard core by the book
OSM Garage
My rims flew thru the last WOF. Was more worried bout the tyres. Unless they are a ridiculous width I reckon the ordinary WOF man wont even know.
kierbear
im unsure on the ridicularity of the width of my tyres
