Went to the Mexican place attached to the Empire tavern the other day, not overly cheap ($20ish for a main), but was so much fun since they have about 20 different chilli sauces to try. Once you try the "mild" selection (which are hot), you sign a waiver form and they let you try the really hot ones. Would be a good laugh to see peoples reactions to the hot ones.
