Jay GTi
Ah but... the engine is canted over to it's left (looking front on) which gives the appearance of a missing bank, look down though, sitting pretty much behind the alternator, is what looks like another valve cover... Raizer
I agree, that's a Chev diesel V8. Look at the right bank you can see the metal fuel lines running to the injectors same as in the pic posted by Jay GTi
xsspeed
Ah but... the engine is canted over to it's left (looking front on) which gives the appearance of a missing bank, look down though, sitting pretty much behind the alternator, is what looks like another valve cover... Exactly what I was looking at, if you zoom right in you can almost see another branch of the inlet manifold. The block (if its there on the left) appears to have surface rust as opposed to oil/grime, giving the appearance its not there. trying to find a left hand pic of the chev v8 diesel but its highly likely that the bank of cylinders are offset behind the alternator. Comparing the right hand side to that pic of the 6.5 diesel, they are scarily similar. Oil lines, oil feed, valve cover etc
Raizer
It is later model but its the same block etc as the older ones

slipsittin
If it is a chev diesel the injector pump is located in the distributor hole. I was with Durty thinking it was a slant 4 Ford D series truck engine but I'm not sure now?? Corey
thegreatestben
I still think its a slant 4 from that pic. Depth perception tells me this
xsspeed
OK so while TGB might not be, I am pretty certain it is a 6.2l chev diesel v8. The 6.5's had the black valve covers, and this one is mor elikely than not and older engine. Examples can be seen in these trademe auctions: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=178039784 http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=187406200 http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Cars/Chevrolet/Silverado/auction-187818188.htm

MACKAZ
Dig up old post. Meh. That wont be a 6.5 diesel. thats a small block so it will be a 5.7..... still sweet diesel donk though.....you can tell by exhaust port lay out. if the two "middle" ports are together its a small block. If they are spaced apart evenly (all 4 per bank) tis a Big Block ie 6.2 or 6.5, applies to Chev petrol and diesels...
