Rewinding coils (for my trafficators)

so yea, the coil on my trafficators has gone (due to the coating on the wire having degraded over the last 50 years) so they aint working.

just a basic wind the wire round and round (900 times) up and down it to create an electromagnet type deal.

im doubting my ability to rewind it neatly, so will an electrician do this or who

anyway, its gotta beat the $200 for a new 1 (yes one)

Did the coil go open or short.

They only break at the ends and can often be repaired without unwinding them.

If it's gone short then it's sometimes possible to fix also without unwinding.

As far as rewinding goes, you need to know the existing length of the wire and it's gauge, in order to get the right wire.

all the side that was facing outward (through the hole that they pop out of) would have been shorting out, as the coating was coming off, couple that with at each layer the parts touching the edges had chaffed through, and the paint insulating the cylinder part was in poor condition.

so in summary, one big short (thats the bad one, the other shows a little life)
