doesnt a wastegate make the bov more meaty? instead of pssh its a wwwwwphsssss

nope its got its own pipe.

And i think he means an external wastie. You run one when you are either running lots of boost and the standard wastegate isnt holding boost anymore. Or when you upgrade to a turbo with no internal gate.(usually bigg huffer)

If you are going to run one for sound value get a 36 tiel :twisted:

you run one when you get past the point of your factory internal gate being able to flow enought to stop boost creep and spikes...

eg i need one on one of my cars cause it's set to 7psi but creeps to 13psi then it you keep your foot into it it will spike to 18ish...

reasons for this are usally head porting and flowing, bigger turbo's, stupid boost taps etc....

sounds right in theory BUT the guy at works RX3 actually lost 3lbs of boost but made more power by changing the cooler plumbing[slightly larger] i have heard that you can go too big and make it real laggy.

Yeah i'd agree with that too. IF the cooler is too big, it can create a pressure drop that is more then the increase it causes from chilling the air.

Or somthing like that, im no expert on boost.

nah me either. Ryan fro work has spent alot of time/money developing his rota and has learned alot along the way. it made 300kw @ wheels on 13 lbs boost [i have seen dyno readout] i went for a blast in it at the weekend all i can say is FUCK ive been in some pretty fast cars but this was scary if it doesnt run 10s id be very surprised. he reckons i should put a 20b bridgy in the corty :lol:

Big turbo/low boost = bigger wastegate

Big turbo/high boost = smaller wastegate

Small turbo/high boost = smaller wastegate

small turbo/low boost = bigger wastegate

That should pretty much answer it.
