Josh
OK I have seriously been thinking of two options for the capri, I want to do a turbo conversion (different engine) but I know it will cost a LOT, and on the other hand wondering if I should just do some work to the current 2L in it, what are your opinions on this? Because I honestly have no idea..

Guest blown4
the two ltr should rev to 7500rpm in standard form b4 you need stronger rods, the best results are in head and cam work combined with a good flowing exhaust and carbs.ive heard of 295 horses out of an unturboed engine in an early Fast FoursAnd Rotories mag.they have very strong big end and crank. Josh
7500?! Im scared to take it past 5000 coz it sounds like the sucker is gonna blow lol, and it redlines at 6...
Bullitt
Dont turbo it. Same advice I give to everyone Work the 2 litre. Will give you more than enough power in a car that I cant imagine is that heavy and itll sound far nicer
atropine
295 in a n/a pinto... i greatly doubt that... sticking with the pinto is always a great idea.. but if you want a turbo theres probly cheaper options.. i wouldnt know though.. cvh turbo? how about a sr20det? Josh
Thought bout sr20det...realised the cost of it...fainted, then disregarded it lol. Im turning towards keeping the 2L me thinks...Like bullit said, can get enough power out of it to hold my own and make it sound good. Jerm
yeah 295 hp like alo to me... the thing is if you stick with a 2L you can pick one up for piss alll and slowly build it up yourself and i think it will go pretty damn hard if you do a decent build. Guest Demonmk2
yeha i wanna find a sierra or a cortina with mathcing 5 speed to fit into my escort but i gotta find the damn motor ,g/box, and drive shaft
Guest Eddie W
295 hp out of an N/A Pinto, I don't think so without a 4 valve configeration. Mind you, there was a 4 valve head produced in Nelson for a while. I wonder if any still exist, and I think there was one done in England as well. rusty260z
get the injected capri 2.8i i think, probably rare as hell or capri 3l v6 personally would keep it from same manufacture and era if possible, just cause capri will always be cool, dont want to ruin it by sticking a nissan engine in there visa versa. (i like keeping cars era original) if after speed get a ca18det, bought one recently for $750 without turo or gearbox, but then conversion cost are gona be high. could just save that cost n get a 280zx n throw a rb20det/25det, for conversion cost, (from what ive read upon on)

RT
All depends on how much power you want and what you want the car for. Answer these questions before deciding on powerplant. IMO, a supercharged pinto is the best value for money in power stakes. For much less cost you can equal the power of an expensive worked n/a engine. It won't make as much power as a turbo and won't have the potential too either.. but it's cheaper, and simpler.
Snoozin
From out at leftfield, you could chuck a Jap V6 in there.... like a VG30DE (keeping it NA!) but that could prove expensive, especially maintaining it.... or there's the other expensive option of a 1UZ-FE Toyota V8... I'm actually liking RT's suggestion... supercharged Pinto... supercharging is sadly overlooked too often IMO, especially in the small car scene. You'd have the advantage of the wicked low end torque afforded by a blower as well. Don't imagine it would be nearly as expensive or complicated as a turbo setup of any kind either. Still be able to keep a nice NA sound as well....
lowlancer
Strip your interior. It's what I did, picked up like 90kg, but raised it about 3 cm:( Although in saying that, my car only weighed about 900kg anyway:D
