  1. @kpr what's the story with 7age builds? More volume than the head can flow?
  2. Why not both!
  3. Today a bike was born/reborn. And mocked up. There is lots of clean up to do which Iwill start on tomorrow. Exciting times.
  4. I had such high hopes when you mentioned tang n desprang.
  5. I always thought it needed some new shocks a conversion to telescopic rears and some discs upfront.
  6. Hi @ajg193it looks like this has gone to a great home. What are your plans for it? It was shaping up to be an awesome little car
  7. Hi @Mr.Mk1. I think if anyone can rehabilitate this its you. Keep up the good work. Can I have a pic of the balljoint socket? Thanks.
  8. Thanks @63Ragtop. Glad you like the project. I got more reassembled and jigged up tonight.
  9. Use an 8mm spherical rod end from the bearing shop. You will need to trim the old end off and weld some threaded rod or a tube nut etc on to replace it. I've fixed quite a few wiper linkages this way.
  10. Rush of enthusiasm this week. Lots of cleaning, dismantling rims, Started cutting and notching tubes with my lathe tube notching attachment. Works really well. Laid everything out to get an idea of how it'll look. I'm very pleased. This weekends job is to rehabilitate the seat post lug.
  11. If we are talking top ball joints then yes I do have a home made one that works well. @Mr.Mk1 you are welcome to borrow it. In my experience leaving the arms on the car is the only way to get them loose.
  12. Time to make this into more than a wall hanger. Condensed. Further condensed. I found some secrets from the past. One of the lugs has been cracked in a couple of places. It pre dates the crash as both cracks have braze in them. I've ground the cracks out but I cant decide whether to tig weld them now or to leave them as is and fill them with braze when the tubes get brazed in. Anyway I have this .8mm wall chromoly tube from another project I decided not to continue with. So with a rebuilt frame, wheels, and all the old components cleaned up it should work out nicely,
  13. No they aren't there are different input shaft lengths etc. They were fitted to both Holden and Chevrolet V8s though so you could find one with a factory bellhousing etc.
  14. T5.
  15. @SOHC I think there is distributor interchangeably between Aussie Cleveland and Ford 429/460BB. If that helps in searching for a replacement. /ling.
  16. Just don't do that to your ones and it'll be fine.
  17. Have you considered getting them re-arched? It's a valid repair. Bellamy and East in ChCh re arch them, I'm not sure about Nelson
  18. @ThePog Is it leaf or coil sprung?
  19. It sounds like it the IAC might not be getting a signal from the ecu as it did previously. Can you find the manual bypass screw on the valve (if it has one) and adjust it from there?
  20. Bushes replaced and the Valiant drives nicely again. One of my boys finished year 8 schooling, they have a formal and parents etc are invited to drop their kids off at in front of the school hall pre formal. The valiant beached quite loudly as I was turning onto the field which my son thought was fantastic. Good boy! He was very keen on some school field paddock work. I exercised the utmost restraint and no circles were done. Here's a pic of some previous grass silliness. I put the Superlites on for the school run. Then decided I didn't like them and took them off the next day. I'd quite like a set of these modernized Cheviot Quattro's but the budget won't stretch that far at the moment. anyway that's enough sharnes. I have done some productive stuff too. I got my big fuel tank re tested, blasted and painted. It's slightly larger in diameter and considerably longer than the old one. My calculations suggest it will hold about 20 Liters more fuel than previous which equates to about %30 more. Luckily I managed to fit it into the old tank straps which was a bonus and saved much fucking about. Old. New. I Need to sort out some new ducting as the tank has is designed for 60mm as opposed to 2 inch as before and I'll be ready to run. This tank has a little magnetic gauge sender unit that is miles different resistances to what the factory sender had. It looks fairly simple and I'd like to see about getting it changed so I can use my factory gauge. Has any one in ChCh delt with E Parrot and Sons since it has changed hands? Are Robinson instruments still around? Suggestions please.
  21. That's a cool little cart! Have you considered a remote controlled kill switch? Could could use an Ali Express RC with one servo to trip a micro switch and earth the coil if things were getting a bit hektik.
  22. Sounds and looks like 1/2unf with a damaged lead in to the thread. Mk1 was imperial threaded. Have you got die nut you can tidy that thread up with?
  23. Does it overheat or are you worried by how much the fan cycles?
  24. Yes. I used to clean small RC car parts with it.
