  1. Chipping away, nearly finished. Lots of little bits done. Mud flaps, half done tail lights, safety chain, decent pins for each end of the ram, most of the table top welded on, and a hydraulic tank that was a LPG cylinder. The tank was quite a bit of work, It has a removable top so I could get inside it and clean and paint it inside so no grit or welding splatter goes through the pump. It also mounts the return filter. If I did it again I'd do it a bit differently. So it goes. Everything's plumbed up, pump is mounted and it works! Well even. There's a couple of things to do yet, the Chinese ram has a pin hole in a weld and leaks oil, there's a couple of braces and guards to make, and wire up some tail lights. Then it's all go.
  2. The teeth on the back of 3ard gear that the sliding sleeve engage with have worn sides and now force the sleeve back into neutral when under load rather than drawing it into gear. I fixed mine years ago by grinding them back to the right way with a Dremel. It's a bit of a bush fix but it was much easier and cheaper than finding a new gear.
  3. Hi Craig. Yeah there has been a little. I've turned up a new bottom pulley with a 5pk drive so I can drive a hydraulic pump. I splashed out last week and brought a new Massey Ferguson TE20 radiator for it. It's a bit cold here today but hopefully this weekend I'll do a little more on it. Worthwhile update to follow at some stage.
  4. The NA and NB boxes have a good pad on the back you can use to mount off. I have a NA motor, box, cut loom, and mega squirt here If you're interested in making a deal. The project I brought it for has had it's chance.
  5. This looks great. Do you have plans for a radical front suspension upgrade?
  6. I'd replace all of them and add a set of new valve springs while I was at it.
  7. I worked with someone who did that, what a cock he was. As for frost plugs I like to get the hole as clean as I can and put a thin smear of lock tite around the edge of the frost plug.
  8. Cool. Keep it up. You have everything else off the other cars to be pretty close to getting it done don't you?
  9. Hi Matt. Good to see you moving ahead. What's the registration status of that old shell?
  10. Are the tappets set properly? they can be kind of a difficult if you're not used to them.
  11. What a mess, it looks like it was harder work to do it wrong. Have you had panels acid dipped before?
  12. Hi Matt, I saw you were selling all your X flow bits off and wondered why. Personally I wish I had gone that route with mine to begin with, it looks like some one should get a good deal if they buy it all It's interesting to see that those Milton steering arms are not legal in NZ. The guy that runs 105 speed is adamant that they are, and if they're not then stiff.
  13. You can't tell with only half a car.
  14. I think the science behind the J pipe is to attach a turbo to your motor with the minimum effort and cash outlay. I'd be tempted to make one up with a 1kz or similar turbo as mentioned above and see how it goes. Add an intercooler further down the track if it's working well.
  15. Do you think you'll be able to sell it after all this work?
  16. Yeah sweet they are pretty hefty old things. Buy the whole car and I'll throw the diff in for free!
  17. Hey Josh, on another note I saw the Datsun @ your work yesterday. It looks fucking sharp. Good work.
  18. Hey Dan I have some Princess calipers we could do a deal on if you want them.
