Auckland Oldschool Family meet ideas
Poo replied to Threeonthetree's topic in Upper North Island Region
I saw some jokers had the key to unlock the chain to Tahaki Reserve (Mt Eden) the other day. It just looked like a few families in people movers. It can't be that hard to ring the council and ask them to open up places like that....... -
One job that I've had to do since ages ago is replace the rubber bushes in the rear suspension arms. The car has always had a bit tyre shake or axle tramp when briskly accelerating from a standing start. The rubber bushes in rear arms of the car were in good shape, just soft. So in preperation for the //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/53865-oldschool-christmas-tree-drag-day-mark-4-december-10th-meremere/ I enlisted the help of Dave/Sentra and the improved hoist. There's a couple of pictures that I took before the battery on my phone went flat. Not so wobbly hoist: Floppy rubber: Red stuff: Dave!!! Notice the hub bushes around the wrong way??? Whoops. They also needed to be linished to get the hub to fit back in. In: And just because its a pain to get it into 3rd on the dragstrip (rest of the time the gearbox is mint): We also changed the engine oil to a thicker grade......Not much of a change, it still smokes. The tyres shake less under heavy acceleration, but still present. I'll look at getting the car aligned and setup at some point.

So this thing turned up for sale on a Facebook page I lurk on. Hasn't run in 20 years, been sitting in a corner of a garage gathering dust. I bought it without knowing if it would run. Or even if the frame/forks were straight. Quick trip home on the trailer. Airfilter off and a squirt of Ether down the carb and she fired straight up. Sadly the fuel tap was blocked with 20 years of vanish and 100psi shoved up it didnt make it budge. New fuel tap from Retroscooter and it started first kick. She runs like a champ. Plans are: Replace the air in the tyres. Ride.

Hamilton Swapmeet / Midnight Upholstery Open day 15th May

That was a great day. Things i learnt: If I coast down the Bombay Hill and stab the throttle at the bottom, all of the smoke comes out. You can buy a set of electronic fender mirrors for $5. Beer out of Gregs fridge is at the perfect temperate. If you swing past a workshop in Onehunga, there will be people working on driveshafts. Still. Poo. -
