  1. sounds like i should send the 'greyboy' up to you when i'm at that stage!! 12sec out of 202 isn't to be ashamed of.
  2. which is around 3.6l take some tricky work to get enough tug to warrent it over the holden 3.8 or the hemi 6
  3. even though i bought the 6 bolt engine seized, i would only sell it complete, as selling just the flywheel dosn't clear enough room in the hoard stack.can supply T5 bellhousing with it so you can adapt to suit what ever box you will run behind it. don't want moonbeams for it, as it's only worthy of crank/fly/ bell and electrics, but could be a cheaper option to get some of the parts you need?
  4. did you not read above correctly, i never mentioned crank
  5. Paul, just braved the frost to go to my man cave (not just for you though). the spare motor i have is (i was led to believe), a VN series 1 with a sixbolt flywheed. the motor that is a complete runner from my old VN (i am led to believe) a series 2 VP/R with 8 bolt flywheel.
  6. the beauty of buying an entire car is that you can sell the T5 for good money, as the Super 6 racers tend to go through them, but isn't an ideal gearbox for anything other than it's intended factory purpose as first gear is rediculously tall compared to 2nd gear.
  7. Paul, the 3.8 manual motors is available in both 6 and 8 bolt crank (have both in my shed) the 3.8 motor has no issues getting the std flywheel up to a sadistic speed suitable for speedway use. i would definately go down the 3.8 route over the 245 hemi. even though the hemi is a better engine, parts are getting scarce for them, and command top dollar. my $0.02
  8. the only decent rotary escort i know of (albeit Mk1) has a 5.3:1 diff and still has to use 'slipper' pads to get a bit of launch wheelspin on tarmac, but is fine on gravel
  9. OSC, biggest issue with a rotor would be the money involved in fitting a decent low ratio diff to get the torqueless engine to hook up, whereas a pinto would work with standard ratio, but much better with a 4.4 or lower.
  10. pinto with lighter flywheel and extractors. will rev a wee bit freer and haave gobloads of torque. cheap to do, and very easy. a 3T and 5-speed is a better bet than a $AG(<-deliberate). cheap, available and easier/cheaper to tickle. a standard 4ag will be dissapointing, and a waste of time and money getting ALL the RWD bits that are needed.fit a factory RWD set-up to save unnecessary cutting and costs after the weekend, a G13B with Samurai box is a good way if you want a screamer, but requires cutting and integral part of the escorts front end strength (unless you go DLI)
  11. the 20v flywheel is too big for the bell, so it needs to be relieve with a diegrinder. the 3AU clutch should be fine from memory, you may have a 4K clutch??
  12. 32/36 weber would be a start, or a 40/40 off a 3l capri v6
  13. so you need one of those now??? you know where i am!!
  14. does the RA have vented front struts or solid?? i have a few bits left from a TA57, same body, different engine. would only do strut casings (with hubs/brakes etc) as a pair, as a well as any other bits you need, as having singles are a waste of space in my shed.
  15. had a Falcon on the hoist this week that had the same issue. drained fluid, fitted new filter, topped her up and all was good.
  16. if that Blair is the one i'm thinking, you deserve help on this one!!! if it is Mr Wattie, i can go around to his pad and shove it in my shed.
  17. isn't that the ratio the new hilux uses??
  18. so.......... if it gonna be black when it matures.............. then it's name has to be Mangu then once it gets his only HP, he can be Kia Kaha Mangu, loosly translated as Be Black Power, but then some thieving patch member might steal it!!!
  19. a 2tg computer should do the trick
  20. OP, did you put the one-way vaccuum valve around the correct way when putting new booster in??
  21. put a better gearbox in it, Datsun boxes are as weak as piss. many of the Datsun racers i know used modified Toyota T-50's with a Dellow?? bellhousing.
  22. 1st issue, most so-called hardware stores are piss useless at cutting old, worn keys, and nine times out of ten, they won't work nicely if they do sort of unlock. 2nd issue, if the car has been poorly maintained, it is likely to be rather bunged up. check plugs, timing etc then put some decent fuel in it. take it for a raping, and replace oil/filter if it is turned black real quick due to dislodging crap from around the engine.
  23. for baseline jetting, i have used Dave Andrews programme very sucessfully : http://www.s262612653.websitehome.co.uk ... ETTING.EXE if you are only using one carb, multiply engine volume
  24. are you in the same group a Jade from Temuka/Timaru?he was up there for 4 weeks just before Xmas and is heading back
