  1. Its now down at Henshaw Performance, hopefully Wade can work his magic on it.. eagerly awaiting to see how many bhp the old girl pulls.
  2. I might give that a go in the weekend, I have 1.5mm and 1.6mm drill bits, so might do a solder fill and re-drill on the mains, if it works out then invest in the proper jets. I have access to some 38mm chokes but im aiming more for drive-ability than top-end
  3. Forgot to say its a fairly large bore (1360cc) with head work and cam. It needs more than the stock 1275 tune.
  4. Running 170 Air and 170 Main, Ive got those recommendations out of David Vizards book on A Series engines. The carb was off a Track Mini and came with 170 Air 180 Main, but had much larger chokes (40mm) and ive choked it down to 36mm. It runs fine under full open throttle once u get past the flat spot, so im led to believe that they are pretty close. Yes Palmside have been good to get Jets from, but when I asked in Aug last year (when I put the Weber back on it) they said they had stopped doing Road Tunes as it wasn't cost effective, I think they only do tuning on cars they setup and spec.
  5. Not sure of the brand, but yes im running a fuel pressure regulator with gauge, set to 3psi
  6. Probably been asked before, but im looking to get someone who knows what they are doing to tune the DHLA45 on my Mini. Its running semi-ok on a home-tune using my Wideband AFR gauge, It's still too rich at cruise (10-11:1) but lowering the idle jets really leans out the progression despite upping the pump jets. Most Dyno Tuner don't seem to stock DHLA parts, or have no idea how to tune anything that isn't EFI. Ive had it at Harmans 10ish years ago when I had a DCOE40 on it and I was less than impressed as it was leaning out and backfiring after tuning. Reluctant to return. Since then it has it rebuilt and heavily modified and been running a HIF44 SU up til now, but it lacks the punch the DCOE / DHLA has. I have a couple of leads for different places but they haven't gotten back to me. Any recommendations?
  7. Nice Mini.. im so eager to get mine on the road this summer, been a 18 month $15,000 build process ;( They aint cheap to restore are they
  8. Unfortunately the tard on tardme I got them off hasnt had the decency to reply yet, I have a feeling he will be one of those dickheads who pulls out of going thru with a auction because he didnt get enuff for them. who knows
  9. Just got some Extractors off Trademe, is anyone doing a Run from Nelson to Chch and could pick up / deliver for a few dollars?
  10. Get your Jets from Gabriele David italiancarburetors@hotmail.com $2.95 USD for Idle Jets $2.50 USD for Main / Air Corrector Jets $5.00 USD for Pump Jets $12.00 USD for Chokes Weber Rebuild Kits are about $12 USD And only charges $5.00 USD for Shipping Ex Italy, takes about 1 week.
  11. Might give them a go, will probably bust the bank account tho.. lol. Last time I took it to Harman's and I wasn't pleased with what i got for me $200 odd it cost me for them to put it on a Dyno and tune it Hope they dont charge $12 /jet $2.20 USD is what I normally pay
  12. Thanks for the info, Ive based most of the settings from the 'Tuning the A Series Engine' Haynes book, by David Vizard, but really havent been overly successful Im short of a few different Jets to have a good set, I buy most of them direct from Italy so they take a while to get here Im quite happy to take it somewhere and pay for a bit of time to get it right
  13. Anyone got tips, or good at Tuning a DCOE Weber in Chch? Ive had no end of stress trying to get mine to run right, I had it Tuned on a Dyno, and they got the Mains and Air correctors right, but seem to have completely ignored the idle progession and trying to drive it at a steady speed under 2500rpm is near on impossible smoothly. The car is a 1275Gt Mini. The Carb is a single 40DCOE18 with 30mm Chokes, F16 Emulsions, 180 Air Corrector, 145 Main Jet, 35 Pump Jet & 40F8 Idle Jets It runs semi OK on the 40F8 Idle jets, but the Idle Mixture screw has to be about 8-10 turns out to get a smooth run, but it runs so rich the car is fumey to drive. Normally they should only be 1.5-2.5 turns out, according to experts the 40F8's are too small, so ive tried 50F6, 55F8 & 55F9 Idles Jets, They tend to idle nicer with 1.5-2.5 turns out (the 50F6's at best) indicating the size is about right, but the car is undriveable and difficult to get even up to the progression of the main circuit without missing and backfiring. Ive spent months trying to get it right. any ideas?
