  1. 3S-FE from a later model Townace? 2000cc twincam with economy head Quite a compact little engine and already oriented for RWD
  2. Glad you had no issues with Mr WOF man, I think writing things on the inspection sheet is too much hard work for him
  3. Would need a mighty good water trap to rid of that steam
  4. Compressed air should come out of the ground like geothermal steam etc. Would be sweet to tap a compressed air well in the back yard
  5. Could try Rustys trick with soda crystals? Cant remember the specifics but someone should be able to give some more info
  6. Bike carbs? Use a megajolt or similar for ignition
  7. WIki reckons they only make 210hp? Seems weak for a 3.3 V6 with a blower or does the internet lie
  8. What do those come out in?? You will get more room between engine and bonnet with a body lift as your raising the body away from the chassis which is what ya engine is bolted to.
  9. Would you have room to bring home a bellhousing and flywheel for me VG?
  10. Yuh shift worker and rostered nights for the long weekend, would be 2 nights and a days cover required. Minimum of 3 ppl needed for all shifts H & S bullshit etc. Will get them back by taking all of January off
  11. Don't think I will be attending now, between people at work getting fired, cunts on holiday in Aus and other staff tied up training newbies I cant see my leave being approved.
  12. Ouch that wont buff out. I hope hes paying for the repairs
  13. $150 for the blowthru turbo carb thats F/S in the parts section $300-400ish for a good turbo $500ish for a custom turbo manifold $500-600ish for misc parts, fuel pump, fuel reg, gaskets intercooling etc It adds up pretty fast
  14. Buy the turbo blowthru carb that Al is selling in the parts section? Then you can run an intercooler, can mount the S/C lower etc
  15. The tyres on the old Yokohama 352 were shot swapped the original mags back on the rear for now. Managed to get one rim spit but got a stripped allen head on the other one so its awaiting surgery, put the center between the bands and got this result. Will end up with a rim just under 8in wide and plenty of dish. Just need to strip the paint off from where someone has painted them and give em a polish, luckily I have a mate with access to a large polishing machine. They fit real nice front and rear sitting just inside the the flares. Pretty stoked with the result for a set of $350 wheels A bit a faux camber on the rear and some writing that was on the bands, curious to know what it says.
  16. Yuh side pipe exiting infront of rear wheel arch is in order. Keen to fiddle with the afm so I will run a bit rich and spit flames aswell. Looks like the engine mounts off the 3y block will fit the 1g like lego and once I shift them to the rear position it will drop straight in with no engine mount work required. Its like hilux and 1g were ment to be together. Im sure I brought a car from a dealers that had something like that used on the engine bay, caused all sorts of electrical gremlins as they used like 400l and it soaked into all the loom connections
  17. Compression test results were good all cylinders are around 180psi and didnt get better with some oil in the bores so fingers crossed I have a good runner. Though it looks like its never had an oil change as its very black and sludgy under the covers. Need to get a pot of this to tidy all the alloy rust off the engine. Gave the rocker covers a sand back and there not as bad as I originally thought,g oing to look at getting the rocker covers hot tanked to clean them up then repaint them.
  18. Il giz ya the 3y for the lux when I swap in the 1gge
  19. Museum plan sounds sweet, I love looking round smaller collections
  20. Looked into a 3s-fe from a townace noah? It wouldnt make diff eating power but sweet cruising economy. They manage to haul those ugly brick vans round alright
  21. This is going to be a sweet whip keen to inspect IRL. Any plans to get rid of the russian donk at some stage?
  22. Progress is looking sweet Nick. I take it the holes between the 2 main chassis rails are for the radiator lines?
  23. Time for an update and time the ute got a new engine. Went on a 780km roadtrip took 11.5hrs including stops, not bad for 3Y power Had this mongrel as a navigator... I turned of the highway at Vinegar Hill and took that road through to Feilding for the first time, it makes for a nice change to the highway. Parked up at the Stormy Point lookout. Whats under here? ...... Toyotas finest 80s N/A Twincam 1G-GE straight 6 boat anchor. It looks like it actually has been used as an anchor theres so much salt buildup and white rust, theres sand allover the block too haha. As it sits now, stripped bare to clean up the block. It still turns over fine so pending a satisfactory compression test I wont have to take the head off and can throw it in the lux and hope for the best. Got the loom ecu radiator airbox with it as well so the conversion should be relatively painless and look factory which is what I wanted. 24. Sweet will try scotch brite. Il look into getting the rocker covers blasted as they are pretty bad its eaten alot of the paint off already. Simon- What ratio was that diff you got from Brendons Celica?
