Yea what spencer said. Can you lock the flex plate with a engine valve or similar then hit the torque converter to get it spinning and loosen up
-
Because ashburton
-
Rig up a slide hammer to pull it off? Cant really remember how these engines are set up but Id say theres a shaft that locates the torque converter to the spigot bearing in the crank that its rusted to

Jamies 86 Hilux Sr5 bargain basment build with added boat anchor
HighLUX replied to HighLUX's topic in Projects and Build Ups
Drank way to much last night and woke up hungover but decided to do something on the ute today Out with the 3Y and in with the 1G-GE for a test fit Fits awesome and looks like it should of come with it from factory can even use the GA61 radiator with it too ,bonnet closes fine. Going to be no major dramas with anything except the sump is going to need a notch to clear the drag link and running the clutch and fuel likes over the firewall to the intake side. I scored a set of custom mounts off trademe for $5 that were supposed to be for fitting a 1G into a hilux but they dont quite line up so not quite sure what to do there yet Will put the 3Y back in tomorow and proceed with getting the wiring and fuel side of the equation sorted then hopefully put the 1G back in good and proper And a sweet parting shot -

One would think that a half blown up stolen reshelled and plated and tagged bob bob car would be easy to come by in the eastern bay

I am dissapoint. Dry ice bombs were the only thing I learnt from 5th form science
-
Dry ice freezes the underseal/sound deadening crap so I chips off easily Mr Duds Hope you made some sweet dry ice bombs with the leftovers
-
Yeah week nights are good
-
Yeah plenty of space to park at TGA burgerfuel and a couple of other food options there. Should see if they will do us a deal like the auckland meets have, free chips or something like that
-
Ratio's are a bit shit compared to W series boxes though, what ratio diff you going to run?
-
G52 should be sweet as just use redline oil in it. They handle abuse in hilux with 1uz fine
-
Theres a old hilux at TGA pickapart with a side rail gearbox in it. Could be good for a spare?

Yeah got someone to swing on the steering while I checked it out. Lux is a '86. Whats involved in rebuilding a steering box?
-
Tried the adjusting nut but no good. Could be balloon spec tyres 215/60/15 on 6.5 inch wide rims
-
No im not talking about the Hamilton O week sort of sloppy box More the non powersteering toyota type. There seems to be a bit of slack in the steering on my hilux, you can turn the steering wheel from say 12 to 1 oclock before the wheels actually react to the steering wheel being turned. All the tierods for the steering seem fine so Im guessing the slop is in the steering box itself. Can the be rebuilt? I tried adjusting the screw ontop of it to take some out but it made no improvement/probably wasnt doing it right

If you have trouble finding a rear window, talk to Novus about putting in perspex. I had this done to my ute when I couldn't source a window and the price was quite cheap compared to glass
-
I vote KL-ZE 2.5 v6 conversion for the b1600. Would make a good tow ute for the spud and r100
-
Yeah got the next shape in the range though
-
Shouldn't Mr SmithnSmith fix it? He was the one to break it
-
Easy enough when its tucked up against the chassis and have the wiring disappearing straight above it into the factory loom. Its not going to be rotary powered so a bit less scrutiny when it comes to wof checks/pigs etc
