    Gearbox Oil

Every 5000 miles seems well excessive.... did they recommend a Haynes branded oil?
  2. Nothing OS here, but if available would be happy to come down and spin some spanners in the pits / watch the racing. -e- totally missed the November bit..... will check back in 7 months
  3. Would spraying outside mean you don't have to be quite so covered up or nah? I think i'd rather use a lesser product and avoid such nasties I think. I assume it's a lesser product otherwise there would be no need to the deadly stuff.
  4. There will be all sorts happening. Due to intellectual happenings rights though I can't disclose any more than that. I'll be at home with a bleeding gob after teeth extraction, good times!
  5. You'd only want to try inert stuff I imagine to prevent reactions with metal. Just a guess though, but anything that is full of chemicals is probably a bad idea.
  6. Yep. Like what?
  7. Looking good, what are the funds being saved for? Paint or are you going to source some other parts? Such a tank!
  8. Pretty sure they have a car park now, only went down recently. Have been watching it progress for ages.
  9. How impossible would it be to make a good job of chopping off the front say 200mm of the guard, and welding in good replacement?
  10. I have this: http://iforce.co.nz/i/iln4ph20.ame.jpg mounted on the bottom half of an office chair. Works good. Get two banana boxes and sit the seat on them. Saves you damaging yourself, the chairs, or both. Try practising all of those skills on something a bit easier to start with Orrrrrrr Sell the seats so they don't gather dust, and buy one of these: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/SearchR ... ggested=19
  11. Safety gear is for sissies. Common sense really, cover up etc. Bring on hand tools write up
  12. Will be watching this like a hawk. Good write up so far, also can't wait to see the panel stuff as my panels end up worse if I try fix them.
  13. What sort of times did you get? Was going to pop out but had car issues to deal with.
  14. But still available I think was the point. Worth every penny i'd say. I guess money talks, but buying wheels made to suit sounds like a far better option than messing around with adaptors etc. OT: they do street fins for hiace vans, hell yeah!
  15. Kinky... Also interested in an extension cord if you can knock up another one? Depending on cost etc OT - You installed that fire yet?
  16. Put some washers in with the inserts?
  17. ^^ Why bother though? I say dummy one up, same result with much less effort / expense / potential to over cool the oil.
  18. Before you touch anything you should really look into what it is you're touching. Would save yourself so much hassle. You-tube is a great resource on how to do things and how things work. Unless you actually enjoy breaking things I suggest you do more research before even lifting a spanner.
  19. Someones already mentioned it, but i'd paint the area you plan to work on cars. Less cost, easy to do whenever as you just move shit elsewhere while doing it. Cleaning up oil, grease, errything off a painted floor is a case of rag and degreaser and it comes up like new. Have recently seen carpet in garages of retirement homes that is like 2mm thick. Probably marine carpet. Would so rock that in areas car's won't leak fluids. Lino? Back in the 90s that would have been grand I'd rock plain concrete over lino.
  20. When I set up an amp I sanded a small area of paint, drilled a hole and bolted the earth to the car. Then sprayed the whole lot to stop rust. Works a lot better than a single screw
  21. Blown fuse in the amp? You should get a light of some description if there is one on it.
  22. 4ohm should be common as, so i'd go that way. If it's 55W RMS, then just find some speakers that are rated to something slightly higher RMS input. Most speaker ratings are pointless, RMS are the ratings you want to compare. The ratings most used are just marketing rubbish and not all that helpful. Could be wrong on some of that as i'm not sounds expert, but should be mostly right. I'd probably grab a pair of boxed 6x9 speakers of known brand for a relatively cheap / good sound. Where are the speakers going? Could always know together a box for in the boot with speakers build in / amp bolted to the side.
  23. Is it not working or have you not tried yet?
  24. Will keep an eye out
  25. Wow.... quality of work looks mint. Some pretty sweet rides over the years! Always get more points if you do all the work yourself imo. So good shit.
