No one has probably done it as it's not worth the time and effort. By the time you mess around (ignoring any pitfalls of just welding in patches, and grinding it all back flush and trying to get a nice finish) you probably could have spent that time earning some $$ and got some steels widened properly. Might be worth the effort to you though, so go nuts. If you care about the legals might want to look into that first as I doubt it would be legal.

If it was used for karts they probably locked the gate. Would prevent it being a public road. Need to find out who owns the land and (unless its the council or some crap) offer them beers for permission for a days use. Lock the gate and look at the cops from the otherside of the gate while you have your fun.

Yes they were caught having fun on the go cart track and had their car impounded. Anywhere the public can drive is classed as a public road I think. Back in the day when I went to paddock bashing days they always locked the gate, it's no longer public access if the public can't get there.
