  1. No one has probably done it as it's not worth the time and effort. By the time you mess around (ignoring any pitfalls of just welding in patches, and grinding it all back flush and trying to get a nice finish) you probably could have spent that time earning some $$ and got some steels widened properly. Might be worth the effort to you though, so go nuts. If you care about the legals might want to look into that first as I doubt it would be legal.
  2. Let me know if you do head out to race, I will come and watch / check out your sweet ride!
  3. As mentioned above, the only ones complaining will be the tryhards with their 'fast' cars still parked up in the car park. All about having fun. I got grief about my times back in the day, but only from one guy that was too much of a pussy to actually race me..... he would have had his arse handed to him and my car is slow too
  4. Did you look into the rules? I'm just going by the rules you have to follow to get a WOF. Not sure what else you can go by really..... the internet is NOT a reliable source though. Only mentioned it as the post further up almost implies cut springs are sweet as even without a cert, which is not the case. Last thing we need is people giving out incorrect information IMO. Have a read: http://www.nzta.govt.nz/resources/virm- ... g-v4a2.pdf Fliboy probably should too. Not sure cops / wof inspectors / insurance companies will accept "but someone on OS said it wasn't "illegal" to do it..." as a valid excuse. In any case, the fellas over at www.club-k.co.nz will know every known combination to lower your starlet if you have no luck here.
  5. Do this before anything else. If it's reading more when its running than when it's not, eg 12 when not running but as you say 13 while running the alternator is doing something. If it drops to like 8/9V while cranking though, above mentioned applies.
  6. Not illegal to cut springs no, but you do need a cert.
  7. Hilux could be pretty brutal. What spring setup you running?
  8. BYO then Yeah have driven past many times in work van, but taking the work van down wouldn't be a good look.
  9. If it was used for karts they probably locked the gate. Would prevent it being a public road. Need to find out who owns the land and (unless its the council or some crap) offer them beers for permission for a days use. Lock the gate and look at the cops from the otherside of the gate while you have your fun.
  10. First and only cooking show i've ever watched. A++
  11. It's probably in some demo guys back yard, along with that copper dome.
  12. Try: http://maps.google.co.nz/?ll=-43.542941 ... 25.62,,0,0
  13. Didn't you know the big rains are coming? Seriously though..... that corner will never be the same, it was part of the intersection! Used to sit and the lights wondering wtf it was doing there.
  14. $3 for 2 months of fatso today, I hope they have some old shit! Can buy it as a gift too, not too shabby.
  15. Yes they were caught having fun on the go cart track and had their car impounded. Anywhere the public can drive is classed as a public road I think. Back in the day when I went to paddock bashing days they always locked the gate, it's no longer public access if the public can't get there.
  16. Keep in mind you can be done for sustained loss of traction. Someone just got done for it.
  17. I used craft knife blades, took forever, wouldn't do it again!
  18. Is that a BA model? If so it took me 2.5 seconds in google to find the answer. I'd go try it for some practise at google
  19. Fair enough, in your case i'd just chop them as UTERUS says, sorted. But since you don't want to, good luck finding tophats to suit.
  20. Wouldn't putting on a smaller top hat make them uncaptive then?
  21. Pretty sure I bunked school to go to that Cashmere one... that would have been mid 90's though, so my memory is a bit foggy. I've popped down to the Hornby one a couple times, just look like a douche as I only have a MTB
  22. There ya go then ^^ You forgot to mention the box of steiny's needs to be cold Rob
  23. If you're near hornby, and aren't in a mad rush, drop me one and i'll have a look.
