Yes springs can sag/settle on one side but generaly only marginally - often its broken springs that cause that problem "all of a sudden" Just make sure the spring shackles haven't siezed or that one shackle has gone towards the front and the other gone to the rear.. does happen and causes issues.

you possibly jumping to conclusions - the white smoke could be condensation - If you are loosing water or the cooling system has mega pressure I would start to worry about blown head gasket - the only true way to check for a blown headgasket is a compression test/cylinder leakage test - a fairly safe and easy way is with a TK head check most garages will have a TK check - as long as the fluid has not gone off it should be pretty accurate.

Cowboy way - get an old spark plug cut some diagonal cuts 45 degrees(ish) across the thread with a hacksaw (about 2mm deep) coat the spark plug in grease - getting some into the grooves you cut wind the plug in gently - making sure it is going in super straight wind in 1 turn back off half turn - wind in one turn back off half a turn etc until you are about 4 turns in remove plug and clean off swarf - recoat in grease and carry on etc etc tis a workzor - if it an old snotter motor I wouldnt be overly freaking out about shit falling in the combustion chamber - combustion heat should melt and spit that shit out real fast. If you too scared to do this - get an engine reconditoner to bring round his tools and get him to do it - he would most probably have a proper tap and experience etc

CLEANING FUEL TANK FOR DUMMIES Drain Fueltank and remove tank from S21 Drop 3 or 4 handfulls of coarse chip and 2 litres of petrol into tank (only the coarse chip not the fine sand that comes with it) Shake vigorously upside down, right side up, left, right, north, south, east, west, south east, nor nor west, etc. Empty tank onto your neighbours lawn, taking care to spell "Cunt" with a capital "C" Pour 2 more litres of petrol into tank, shake vigorously, smoke cigarette, empty pertrol into toilet cistern (or behind garden shed, into your little sisters diesel Daewoo, in your ex girlfriends shampoo etc) smoke more cigarettes (repeat 3 times) Pour 2 litres of methylated spirits into tank - swish around firmly (not shake) drain meths ensuring to filter through a loaf of bread and keep the remanants for Friday night drinkees!! You now have a nice clean tank.. I recommend adding a quantity of fuel tank sealer and turn tank regularly while sealer is drying/follow instrructions on bottle of sealer. DONE!!
