  1. It's handy to have decent pull on a splitter for wood that gets stuck though.
  2. This is a whole new floor including mounts, right? Maybe the springs on this shell were different? How far off centre in the arch is it? Options that I can see are altering the leaf mounts on the diff, or getting some new leafs made with the mount point in a different place. You have a chassis repair manual right? Do the spring mounts measure correctly?
  3. Don't let it get rotten? I had some work done on the ash framing on my Morris Minor Traveller by Neville Rhodes in Marton. rhodescabinetmaker.com | Furniture Restoration | Marton | New Zealand He does quite a bit of car work I understand. I was really happy with the work done. The queue was long though
  4. Knock the nut off and install a rivnut? Easier than chopping up the skin. e.g ToolShed Rivet Nut Set M3-M8 (thetoolshed.co.nz)
  5. Working in the winterless north now @grunta?
  6. If you want quick and easy just replace or fix the current one. More economical is probably hard?
  7. 1098 or gtfo imho /spam
  8. Easier to just jam an LS1 in there.
  9. They never noticed on my stuff. Just don't mention it.
  10. Is it for that truck? Heavy vehicles could be different again.
  11. Melbar cables in Wellington should be able to sort you out.
  12. Have been fixing the necessary cleaned up pieces before priming. This is the side support for the back seat, one footing was quite rusty so stuck on a new one. This piece supports the seat back when it's folded down, attaches to the inner guard. Folded up a new extension piece And made a new top as it was pretty pitted. This part is visible inside the car I think. Trimmed and glued on. Still practicing my tig welding. Also a new foot piece on this. And spot-welded back together. Had to put some different arms on the welder to get clearance. Much easier than plug welding with the mig though. And cleaned up the remaining pieces for some durepox tomorrow.
  13. Good work on sorting the brakes out. Did you have to find a new helper to work the pedal?
  14. Have been a bit distracted with other things, but winter is coming. Pretty much all my front panels are junk. Including this across the front - slam panel? I have a better one in the parts collection. It's been soaking in the molasses barrel with other bits for maybe 3 months, so pulled some out for cleanup. Some window trim, rear seat supports and taillight assemblies. I cleaned the smaller bits up, wire brushes on drills, sandpaper, pit of phosphoric acid. The slam panel sat around for a day so got some nice surface colouring. A benefit of the molasses is that it smells nice. The ends are a bit yuck because the barrel isn't quite deep enough to get the whole part into it. And after a 30-40 min cleanup it's ready for some epoxy to keep it good. I haven't decided on opening up the latch, it's riveted together so would be a bit of a mission.
  15. Glyptal. $121 / qt and out of stock. Glyptal (restosupplies.co.nz)
  16. Fair enough, it does make it a bit easier. There is usually a way to get registered by contacting the organisers and asking directly I think.
  17. Tickets don't really matter all that much, but the accommodation does.
  18. FML Beach Hop accommodation has got even more $$$ crazy. The place we rented for the past few years put up the price by 50% so we dropped it this year. Sort of considering going in November is anyone has an accommodation hook-up?
  19. Heap Ford owners unite! Good score these days.
