  1. excessive crankcase pressure is symptomatic of over-taxed/butt-fucked top rings. Thats pretty commen with engines that have been +T'd. The good news is it doesn't neccesarily mean that your oil control rings are mitsubishi'd. (I've had supercharged motors which had mad blowby, but have burnt no oil) Just plumb it back into the intake and boost hard.
  2. I really meant to bring the vid of that cruise etc to that thursty thirs at R/side that time, but I forgot.
  3. Having once been for a ride on a mates CR250, I was going to agree with the CR500 suggestion. (The 250 was a scary beast to say the least) But having seen the 2000cc CR500 monster, I'm in love! That would be off the chain! As for outboards, they have terribly small cooling capilaries in the block to compensate for the stone cold coolant. My old mans jono is a 2.7l V6 two stroke that rocks 225hp. Would be epic on land, but heat would cause untold reliablity issues. I'm told back in the day people experiemnted with outboards in speedway, but the heat fucked them. Although, if you were to run methanol.................
  4. Have you changed the plugs, or just cleaned them? I once had a set of brand new plugs which got fouled on the 1st fire due to an incorrectly plumbed fuel reg. I cleaned them so good that you could have eaten off them, and the were dead. Did exactly what you're describing despite looking brand new. Whats your ballast resistor like? have you measured the voltage at the coil while the engine is running? if you unhook the fuel line to the carb(s) and crank the engine, does go-juice squirt out in lovely eye burning jets? have you tried using a different coil? Have you tried a different dizzy cap/rotor/leads? Have you tried (Dare I say it?) the standard carb and manifold?
  5. Good shit! Be sure to come on the cruise if you are!
  6. It sucks that this meeting always falls on the same day as the NZdatsun clubs biggest event of the year. So I never get to compete. (Except for one year that it was held on the monday cos of rain on the sunday)
  7. Zeb, you'd rather go hang out with an army of flat peakers than actually go on the most epic cruise of the whole year? oh my....................
  8. Also, dont assume that your blower will pump it's ctual displacement per rev either. A blower will only ever be within so many % effeciency.
  9. A mate of my old mans son rolls a turbo LD28. He tells me there is at least two blocks. One has more ribbing for her pleasure/more strength.
  10. Bumpity bump bump! This is only a month or so away now. So it's time to start thinking about coming if you have a datsun, datsun era nissan, or vehicle namufactured by the prince motor company. (Or if you have mate who does, get them onto it!)
  11. undo the four bolts, then bolt the drum on backwards and smack it with a deadblow hammer.
  12. at a pinch you can undo the nut, but not remove it completely. Then place a jack under the nut with just enough lift under it that the car has only just moved up 2-3mm. Then get a length of pipe, and rest it on the top side of the arm. Then beat the fuck out of it with a BFH. This works sometimes. I use it on valiants, but I use a valiant torsion bar, which has big(ish) hex's on the ends. But if you do try this, you MUST MUST MUST MUST MUST have the shaft of the steering box supported. Otherwise it will dent the fuck out of your worm and make your steering all notchy and shit. Also the cars suspention will compress and take al the shock out of the blows too. Not best practise, but can do the job.
  13. Drags saturday October 2nd. Gate entry $10 (including racers) $40 carload of 5 (kids under 12 FREE) Racer entry $40 + $20 day license (or $75 for a 12month NZDRA sportsman license) Enter off Leggits rd. gates open 12pm Racer entry/scrtineering ends 1:30pm Practise from 1:45pm racing 2:30pm To race you'll need; Helmet- In reasonable condition WOF & REG A Radiator overflow bottle that can't spill coolant onto the track. Two accelerator return springs for carburated cars Sensible footware. IF, you have no wof or reg and still want to race, PM me promptly. I'll give you the number of an NZDRA aproved tech inspector here in CHCH. For a fee (I think it's $30) He'll inspect your car. (like a basic safety check, but waay easier than wof, don't even need an exhaust system) Then you send away the form you get to the NZDRA and you get a log book which lasts 12 months. (log book costs $20-$30 I think) IF you want to do this, do it soon! If you need to get your log book on the day at the track it'll cost you $50. It's well worth doing if your car spends lots of time with no wof or rego. Or if it's too modified to pass a wof. Visit www.pegasusbaydrags.co.nz See you there!
  14. Seeing your build thread again gets me amped up to work on my VG. I reckon mine would be the slowest build on this site. Mopar FTW!

    rb20de probs

SR's are famous for having the cam oiler squirters block up. So a cam failure on one of them is par for the course.

    rb20de probs

has he tried to do a fault code check on it? Its a bit cunty, but its where i'd start.
  17. You're better off having the 265 valves fitted to the 245 head. Thats what ball the go-fast people used to do back in the day.
  18. My oem 265 pistons are flat top. I'm pretty sure all the hemi 6 slugs were. They had to be to get the comp up due to the carvernous (but valve unshouding) combustion chambers.
  19. I found we had to dry the fuck out of the sand to stop it from clotting up, and sift the buggery out of it to. Then it worked fine. BUT they consume a shitload of air, and fill your hair/pockets/shoes with sand. plus I had to wear a welding helmet cos my face was getting cained with sand. (Fucked the lens too.) I just give a mate a box of tui and he does it for me. win.
  20. ca18 SOHC are way shitter than the twincam motors. It's hard to go wrong with an A series.
  21. oh dear! This thread has gone downhill quickly. A pinto will be even heavier than the G200 that chris and I shoehorned into his car.
  22. Looking sharp indeed. Where did you find mags in the gay and rare early Val stud pattern? I had to buy a whole AP6 regal to get the tridents for my VG. (many many years ago) Is that a factory E31 inlet manifold? It looks to be longer than the cain/aussie speed one. Also is that factory Val gear knob?
  23. I went to a rotary club grass skid a day a brazzillian years ago at the kimberly domain. Maybe find out who is in charge of it, and if they'd lets us carve it up hardies.
