  1. Sullivans Dam? Been awhile since I've explored near Dunedin
  2. Would be keen to enter but no way my clutch would survive it so maybe another future event.
  3. Saw this this morning. Being followed by an RX30 on Bunny street. Looks good.
  4. I had a stock 1989 SR250 many years ago. still had a drum front.
  5. Iv'e always liked these. Known a couple of people with them. Though they seem very fussy with rider height, theres only a couple of inch window where you can reach the ground but get comfortable/see the instruments without having to look through the screen. Glad to hear you've got it sorted.
  6. We probably shouldn't take this thread any further offtopic but just one last post from me on this. I will always tell a prospective purchaser everything I know about a car I'm selling but I see no obligation to hire a mechanic to find out anything I'm not aware of. Having a pre-purchase inspection doesn't make my car more valuable or easier to sell. My sole reason for wanting the knowledge was to remove any information asymmetry particularly as in this case the buyer wasn't local so I wouldn't get to see the report at all during negotiations. I didn't even care if I didn't see the report just a couple of words about whether there was anything major wrong with etc would have been sufficient. I can see where your coming from and its the same view Page had with me too but I consider it poor customer service. I have no other reason to dislike them and I could have easily said on here to stay away from them without further reason which may have held more weight. But if anyone else reading this agrees with me they can make an informed choice.
  7. It was them that paid for it. I have purchased a number of other cars in similar circumstances where I have paid for either an AA check or a mechanic and in every case the inspector has provided it to the owner when they picked up the car and I then got it off them. I wasn't expecting a freebie as the prepurchase inspection has very little value to me as a seller other than to confirm what the prospective purchaser suggests. It would be easy for the buyer to claim everything was wrong with the car and I needed to halve my price in order for them to still buy it. While I have a reasonable knowledge of my own car it would be easy for a mechanic to find something I wasn't aware of but it would be just as easy for the buyer to claim something that was completely false. There is no advantage in the garage withholding the report from me and it has subsequently cost them several thousand dollars of my business,
  8. I had a big argument with Page European a few years ago when I dropped my BMW in for a pre-purchase inspection and they refused to tell me anything about it. I've been actively avoiding them and trying to convince others to do the same ever since. I go to Powerhaus on Tinakori Road. Theyre pricey but theyre the only people Ive found who can actually work on my Peugeot (apparently 106's have different diagnostic plugs to bigger Pugs and every mechanic thinks they can work on them till they try).
  9. Leave early and I miss out on being in the photos except the burnout one Good to catch up with a few familiar faces. Will try make some future meets.
  10. Won't be able to stay long but will try make a brief appearance.
  11. Will likely be there. Not too worried about F5000 tbh. They make an incredible noise but have seen them many times and you generally get closer racing in the lesser categories
  12. This was always the one that appealed to me
  13. From the side the skirts look better level IMO. I might change my opinion depending on what they look like at the back though.
  14. New mirror is sitting in bits waiting to go to be painted. Had it out yesterday after work for the first time in 3 weeks. Only did about 20 miles but it was all on interesting roads and good fun. I knew mine was higher but I hadn't got to the detail of why that was. Is on the list to sort once my house costs abate somewhat.
  15. The metal is ok, its just broken the plastic lugs, you can place it back on the car and it looks fine but it wont mount properly without glueing it back together which seems more hassle than its worth. Yeah I knew its off a metro, I already have a new one on its way. I did lightly bump it enough that it was pointing at the ground by the rear wheel when I was putting in the battery but Ill likely do that hundreds of times over the coming years and it should stand up to more than that. I suspect your right its had a bigger bump in the past.
  16. Its badged as a Repco one but who makes it I'm not sure. Repco has about three different ranges of batteries and this was the top one in the appropriate size. $191 worth. Will think about something abit more premium next time but for now itll likely use itself up sitting in the garage so decided against wasting another Odyssey like Stanley appears to have. Oh fuck me I LOLed (no offence meant). So did I Fitted personalised plates. I've had these for a long time now so some people who have known me a long time might remember them, though theyve never been on a oldschool style car as all the ones Ive owned had black plates. Next issue is the Passengers door mirror decided to part company with the car on Sunday. I could fix it but theyre pretty cheap so I'll just buy a new one. Either way itd have to be repainted as you can see the scratches in the photo from where it bounced down the road.
  17. Fitted a new battery and replaced the tyre weld as its something like 8 years old and I didnt trust it to work(they dont have a spare tyre). Such a pain to get to the battery, its about a foot lower than the opening for it with no spare space on any side of it to get your hands around it to lift it or get it past the cables. Had to take the radiator trim surround and windscreen washer motor cover off just to get the battery out. All appears to be working well now though.
  18. ROFL I don't have any photos with the HID's on. They'd probably over expose anyway Workshop manual would definately be helpful. No idea what usend it is, assuming its something like imageshack for documents?
  19. Its now been over three years since I've owned an interesting car as Ive been saving for a house/garage/more expensive car but as of yesterday I managed to tick off the final one on that list. Not Old School but people on here may be interested anyway. Its a 2000 Lotus Elise with only 16,000 miles on it. It came into NZ in 2004 with only 4,000 miles on it so its extremely tidy. It also has a hardtop including its proper bag so it can be hung on the wall. Its pretty much standard other than a K&N, VVC Plenum, short shifter, HID lights (which I'll likely bin) and a diffuser. It had personalised plates on it which the owner has kept so itll be getting the ones I already have on it in the next few weeks. As you can probably imagine my mortgage is looking abit sicker now that it was last week so I dont have too many immediate plans for it. People keep telling me i'll want to modify it which will probably happen...but not this year.
  20. Saw this yesterday, coming towards me on Owhiro bay road. Looks good. Can't remember the last time I saw a Trump wagon let one one with that presence.
  21. Real wheels break too. When I bought my Honda it came with Mugen RNR's with a mark on the lip of one where itd previously been kerbed...all was fine for about a year till one day the tyre went flat. Turned out one of the spokes had cracked where it joined the rim. I'm sure a knock off wheel could have suffered the same failure but decent wheels are often pretty light which all else equal (which I know its not) surely doesn't help
  22. Is that the SQUIRT or whatever the plate is light blue 1600?
  23. Hi Barry Id imagine a few people here could potentially be interested. Two things I can't see on your site. What area is the facility located in and whats the approximite cost?
  24. Looks good George. Seeing it compared to the last shield my first thought was this:
  25. Love your changes other than the bonnet which I would have left green. Looks really good in that colour, don't recall the last time I saw a green one.
