  1. Pledge works best on slow belts...and you can get a lemon one too. If it's stuck out it's a goner.
  2. Are you a Johnson ? My brother was a good mate of Clint.
  3. With Mitsubishi's we used to do an SQL, small quantity relearn. It would smooth out the idle and they would make less noise too.

I put a Kiwi Head on my 4D56 Pajero...and it lasted 3 weeks. Got another one out of them and that one lasted 3 years...finally got a NZ new L200 head for it and no more problems. Both Kiwi heads leaked behind the inlet valves. Many years ago of course, and I guess they have changed supplier by now.
  5. 0.8 is GP rod for MIG...you don't want to be changing spools going from panels to exhaust tubing to plate. But if panel steel is all you are doing, the 0.6 is what you need. I'm usually patching in 16 gauge, so 0.8 is good.
  6. It's full of copper and lead - feel the weight of the bottle. Stupid shit to put in your engine...but, ah, it does work on noisy lifters.
  7. Some of those bump stops you get in a strut kit are generic, some don't even work and get tossed. I've had them blow apart because they are too long. I'll give them a trim....if it's got a boot you can't see them anyway...or even if they are fitted.
  8. I had a customer who had a Volvo 245, and it broke down Opotiki way, last century. She stayed in town for 2 or 3 days while the local garage fitted another engine, and she drove home again. What they fitted was an LD28 ! Of all the engines to replace a 2 litre 4 cyl, they chose an LD28. An OHC Cortina surely would've been a better option, so it must've been all they had. I maintained that car for over 10 years, and it was a Volvo, so not much went wrong...even with a bloody LD28...so they had done a pretty good job on it.
  9. I've had a Raytec for about 20 years, it was a cheaper version, and you can get ones just as good for a good price these days. Even for just diagnosing a misfire - point at exhaust ports...that's the one ! A very important part of my tool kit, but the 9 volt battery is a pain, expensive things...I have one battery and move it around my devises. A USB one would be nice in the modern world.
  10. We are now running 3 norty Hondas in the family fleet now - I have an 05 Airwave, the wife has an 07 Stream and one daughter an 06 Fit. These things are all about economy, and every little thing alters fuel economy...shit, the other day I topped up my car with 500 ml of 15W-40, and it dropped from 18.5 km/l to 16.5 km/l.
  11. Sieken is the best, a bit expensive for a one off...but surely it has other uses...
  12. See my previous post. Try is the important word here...if I could I would.
  13. This is what my rear lights look like. With some linseed oil. You can still get the lower lamps, and fitted new ones a couple of weeks ago, top ones are hard to find.
  14. The top rear lights on my Volvo 850 have faded to white, the colour is still there, but the outside is faded. I sand it back and apply all sorts of things...tyre shine, furniture polish, vaseline, it brings them up nice, but not shiny. I've tried clear, but it doesn't last, I'll try a headlamp clear next...but if it doesn't last then I have to sand it off again. Tyre shine takes 10 seconds and lasts 2 weeks.
  15. Buggered if I know...he's probably got it around the back of the house, and they need a reason to search. I'll have to hope for the next Meth bust. I've put it back in my name twice now, so he's probably got a heads up that somethings wrong. If that's the case he'll get a new plate for it,easy enough. I wasn't putting WoFs on it anymore, but had put a new axle in it 15 years ago - all I really want is the axle so I can build a new trailer.
  16. Wondering if I could find the location of an AVIC. Last year over lockdown I spent my days cutting down some trees. I couldn't take them to the tip, or down to my mates to put through his big chipper...so they sat in my trailer. Which was then stolen. Must've been for the firewood, and then sold to someone. Obviously he doesn't know it's stolen, and has registered it in his name. The cops have seen the trailer, know who it is....and that's that. They won't tell me where it is, but not in my town....although one asked if we had seen it, like maybe we should've if it's close to us. Anyway, it got a WoF earlier this year. I've asked the identity of the issuing station, but even though we are an AVIC, they won't tell us. I'm not wanting to get anyone into trouble, not even the name of the place, just a location so I atleast have an idea - it may be in the next town...or on another island, I'd just like to know where. AVIC ID is N17. Not an MS number, so I'm picking a VTNZ or such like.
  17. Snow tyres are really good on gravel, almost like a rally tyre - stiff sidewalls and a sharp edge to sweep the gravel going sideways.

How high have you got the jet wound up ? It shouldn't be much above the bridge if at all. Have these been rebuilt ? Jets centered ? Will need a strip to do that. A book of needles would be good....but of course the ones you need won't be available. But with the book you can get something close.
