    You can buy carb kits with re-usable gaskets that let you remove and refir the metering blocks if you're going to be fiddling lots. First test I used to do to see if it was over jetted was to get it running at a high idle, then wind the idle mixture screw in. If it winds all the way in and doesnt stall then you jets are way too big.

    Re- Carport framing, I would probably look at tying all the frame/purlins together with joist hangers and blue screws. Its all about uplift on carports.

    Not sure about jappas but when we used to modify 9 inch diffs we would always cut and weld axles. Generally only the end of the axle where the spline is was hardened, So if you cut the spline off you also cut off the hardened portion.

    Gearboxes were one of the main archilies heals in these utes, Can't be too many good second hand units left in circulation. You might just be swapping out with a someone elses junk.
