  1. Stellar was launched in 1983, white plates started with "NA" in Nov 86. Plastic bumpers first appeared on the Pontiac GTO in '68, on the Renault 5 in 1971, and locally on the Todd assembled Chrysler Alpine from 1977.
  2. Corvair 1960-64 were same as Nova/Chevy II at 4x4.5" (114.3mm), same as Nissan/Toyota/Triumph/MG etc. 1965-69 were standard Chevy 5x4 3/4" (5x120.65"). http://www.crankshaftcoalition.com/wiki/Wheel_bolt_pattern
  3. Do the wide wheels and flares (and/or other body mods) on this Rover need to be certed?
  4. Classic Mini are 4x4" 101.6mm plenty of 13x7 wheels for them, don't know about Cragars though.
  5. The crowd near me still have theirs, but they're midsized and do rods and classics as well as insurance.
  6. Any good body shop should have a chassis straightener (Car-o-liner or similar). They should also pick up any other chassis or bodywork that needs fixing, so worth a visit. Nice car, an uncle had a Rambler back in the late '60s.
  7. Love these old 125s. You're lucky on the rust front. Looking really nice.
  8. Congratulations on getting it back on the road. Looking awesome. Have you seen the Dinky model of it for sale on the Tard?
  9. Also Hillman Imp, Austin A40, Morris Minor, MG Midget, Chevy Monza/Vega.
  10. 102.6mm = 4" = classic Mini and other BMC stuff
  11. iirc the Falcon axle had different length halfshafts, so one trick for narrowing them was to replace the long side with a short side.
  12. Borg Warner 35 auto for sure (standard 3 speed fitted to just about everything Aussie and Pommie from Marina 1300 to Rovers, Valiants and Falcons). Diffs were numbered by the crownwheel diameter, Cortina 6 had a 7.5" (Model 75), and Falcon/Valiant had 7.8" hence 0578.
  13. Just send Ed a photo and he can drive round until he finds it? lol
  14. Two steps forward and one step back, eh? At least it's getting betterer...
  15. I'd like to be able to play music off my phone through the free OS radio cassette I got from Tumeke, but I don't want a full handsfree kit since I ignore the phone when driving. Jaycar have an FM transmitter unit for $19.90, that would probably do that for me. https://www.jaycar.co.nz/fm-transmitter-with-mp3-player-and-remote-control/p/AR3136 That Vais unit sounds great for the Lexus.
  16. Good question about what is genuine Lucas and what is Chinese repro. Some discussion on the Marina forum recommends http://www.distributordoctor.com/rotor_arms.html
  17. Probably just some dodgy Lucas bit that's given up the ghost. I think the Chinese aftermarket parts are faithful reproductions made to the original standards...
  18. That looks really nice. The PI seems to have a bit of bad reputation, but I'm sure there are enough Barries around to get it sorted. Always wondered how easy it would be to convert from mechanical injection to electronic these days.
  19. Nokia bringing back old school cellphone to fill wheel dish measuring niche market.
