  1. Wrap the Borg Warner gearbox in sheet metal - Falcon, Charger or P76 would go nicely under my Christmas tree.
  2. Always liked the 2nd generation CRX. Only Honda I've had is my current Jazz, reliable as, 136kms in 8 years, been from Kerikeri to Bluff and never missed a beat. Could do with more power and better suspension, but it's only a nana car for the school run.

  4. Have a search on the Fast Fords forum, should be plenty of info on exhausts for x-flows. I would suggest a small resonator at the rear would give a nice rasp. The crackle and pop usually comes from a warmer cam and standard timing (my mini did that until it spent some time on a dyno).
  5. Friend of mine had one 20 or so years ago. Wonderful car. Rover car club is great too.
  6. Autocar managed 0-60mph in 19.6 secs. Twin carbs and 1800cc should give 50% more excitement.
  7. Great idea. Somewhere that also caters for surley teenagers lol. Another option could be the new youth park at Ranui - bbq, bmx track, half court, climbing wall. http://ourauckland.aucklandcouncil.govt.nz/articles/news/2016/08/te-rangi-hiroa-youth-park-set-to-rock/
  8. Good to hear it's mobile. I had a white XB ute 250 3-on-the-tree back in the '80s, fun to drive on crossplys with a LSD. My Dad had a Cosmic blue XA wagon 200 3-on-the-tree from new, with ROH slot mags. Did a family road trip from Auckland to Christchurch for the Commonwealth Games and my oldest sister's wedding, Falcon was one of the wedding cars, along with an uncle's Valiant.
  9. Nice original Hunter. "The original Valentines Buffet Restaurant opened in Auckland’s Pakuranga on February 14 1989", according to their website. The tinplate AA badge possibly predates the Hunter, would be interesting to hear what the AA can tell you about it.
  10. Yeah, it's a bugger when you can't stop yourself becoming a GOM. Gone are the days of megaphones on Minis...
  11. How long a muffler can you fit there? A 1 1/2" x 16" Coby could be quite effective, in conjunction with your existing resonator http://www.woottons.co.nz/product/small-super-coby-ssc-16/
  12. I had one on a Mini many moons ago (998cc with 58 hp at the wheels), gave basically a straight pipe from the extractors down the middle of the car. Sounded sweet and not too quiet nor too loud.
  13. Only bench seat I've owned was an XB Falcon ute. My mum had a column change Cortina, a bit cosy with 6 teenagers.lol
  14. Looking really good. Holdens were quite small back in the 60s. Just checked wiki and it's 200mm shorter than the Mazda6 wagon I used to have, and only 250mm longer than a Marina wagon.
  15. Jowett built the Bradford truck, that had a flat twin iirc.
  16. *in your best Monty Python Yorkshire accent* you're lucky you turned up in a car, I had to come by train (and not an old school one either)
  17. Was a good night, motivated to get Ozzy sorted for summer. Now if I could just remember who was who...
  18. Just realised I can make this month, no family commitments getting in the way. Anyone got a handful of 7/16th wheel nuts going spare? Three or four of the ones off the Marina seem to have gone AWOL. As it has an Aussie Borg Warner axle and shares Ford's 4x108 PCD, hopefully all the '70s stuff had the same taper for factory steel wheels.
  19. Some interesting info here (an older thread from an Auckland guy restoring a '62 Classic) http://theamcforum.com/forum/rambler-classic-front-suspension_topic4109.html Mentions complete bush kits can be bought from http://www.springsnthings.com/front-end.htm
  20. Interesting that the Rambler has a similar suspension design to later Camaros and the Rover SD1, with struts at the front and torque tube and panhard rod at the rear. Apparently there is a good supply of AMC parts in the US, many of which were derived from the Rambler Classic.
  21. Try the Hudson club, they include Rambler in their list of makes http://www.het.org.nz/index.php
