  2. Yeah they haul through battery, use about a watt doing nothing. Hook your project car up to a trickle charger while it is in garage?
  3. http://kje.co.nz Kerry Jones Engineering has a big Hypertherm CNC plasma cutter, probably cheaper than laser as set up time is next to nothing.
  4. Just do the kiwi thing: stop them and take their keys.
  5. Contact Franklin Bearings, they are pretty good at sourcing stuff (No idea who is good in Christchurch though)
  6. Make it the April meet?
  7. Who on here is keen to have some sort of oldschool get-together/laugh at eachother falling over on the ice session some time? Ie we could do the monthly meet of burgers and whatnot and then afterwards head out for an hour or so of ice skating/talking smack
  8. That guy should be a tyre farmer, his car is quite good at planting rubber
  9. So new shocks, top mounts, lower control arms, brake fluid and water pump (old one looked like brand new inside) are all done now. Took car for wheel alignment yesterday, the LCAs really threw the alignment out (10-12 mm toe in each side (~2 degrees a side)). Mr wheel alignment man said the car was a minter/he loves starlet sprints/I'm onto a winner and I should hold onto it. /Pics for Mr. Fred Hopefully these Taiwanese LCAs last the test of time. Don't really want to have to change them in a hurry.
  10. All that car needs done now to be perfect in every way is for that head liner to be tucked up neatly. Such car, much want
  11. Bastard cyclists....
  12. US or Imperial MPG? I'm still so fekken amazed this thing held up. You almost need to make a roadkill-esque show.
  13. What does everyone reckon will be a good meeting time? Meet up/drive out at 11ish and get there in time for lunch? Place, road out front of Halswell Aquatic Centre?
  14. Seeing how you lot will have had a two week chance to recover from Nats, who's keen for a drive out to Akaroa on the 21st (a Saturday)? Could pretty much make it the March meet. It would be good to catch up with people. We could have some sort of a scavenger hunt activity or something along the way, like a competition to see who can find the biggest pine cone (lame, I know) or who can pick up the most/hottest hitchickers?
  15. What's happening with this?
  16. Looks like a leak between 1 and 2 from your photos? Doesn't really look like a coolant leak though :/
  17. Is that a pun about the ductile-brittle transition of the steel used in the fuel tank?
  18. These finally arrived. Will put them in tomorrow, along with new shocks
  19. Happy birthday felixx. Sorry I couldn't stay for long. Spit roast was great
  20. I have the spray paint cans from The Bronze. I have not been given any delivery instructions yet. If you are owed some, come to the next monthly meet and I will bring them with.
  21. Drove down to Christchurch from Auckland yesterday. Car went well, stopped off and visited the GCs at Olds Cool Autos in Palmy North. Used ~6.1 L/100 km of fuel and absolutely no oil on the trip. I call that a win Always fun when you are driving along at 2 AM and a cop car comes up behind you with lights flashing and all and then just over takes you. And the boat guys were playing with the lifeboats
  22. OK, so the route has been settled to be princess margaret hospital->little river->pigeon bay->city People with low cars can try it, if you get stuck there should be more than enough other low cars to pull you out. Just drive faster and let momentum pull you through or something. Also, details of the route may change. Stops along the way will also be decided. Any queries about the route may be made directly with Hon Miltay on facebook.
  23. Gar... I leave early morning on the 17th and will need a good night's sleep beforehand (18 hours on the road).
