rusty360 Posted March 31, 2021 Posted March 31, 2021 Hey I've been send a few files to the laser cutters lately and they are struggling to see the part or open then. Is there someone he I could send a file to, then we can see if you can read it or I've farked something up. Been using DWG, DXF formats. Cheers rusty. Quote
Willdat? Posted March 31, 2021 Posted March 31, 2021 You can download deepnest.io and it will give you overall dxf dimensions if you want a quick check? 1 Quote
h4nd Posted March 31, 2021 Posted March 31, 2021 I use Librecad to cross check files: https://librecad.org/#download then view-autozoom 1 Quote
anglia4 Posted March 31, 2021 Posted March 31, 2021 Pretty sure you can download DWG Trueview for free from Autodesk as well. Or solidworks eDrawings. I often use them for checking that my DXF/DWG's are the correct part, or have the correct holes/folds etc in the file before it goes out. Quote
NickJ Posted April 10, 2021 Posted April 10, 2021 Do you have splines in the drawings by any chance? Never chased it far but found the splines output to dxf by fusion don't show up on our WJ software and need to be cleaned up in other software before they can be converted into a toolpath. Something to be careful with as the operator might need to spend time at your cost to clean up the dxf suitable for the machine. Quote
anglia4 Posted April 20, 2021 Posted April 20, 2021 I don't typically use splines, no. And yes, splines historically cause all kinds of issues for CNC operators. Quote
yoeddynz Posted April 25, 2021 Posted April 25, 2021 Can you use sharper scissors? The edges might be a bit fluffy. When I post my cad designs to the cutting service I also pay lots of attention to where I fold the design. Like don't fold the cardboard up through holes etc - they hate that. 1 4 Quote
