I was lead to believe that the 2.8's were replaced with the 2.9 engine mid 1988, so technically it should have a 2.9 engine in it. Mind you, it could have been built in 1988 but first sold/reg 1989. I probably have most of the mechanical spare parts you'll need to get it back on the road should you buy it. Unfortunately I'm up in Auckland Quote
RUNAMUCK Posted September 1, 2024 Posted September 1, 2024 Message @nismo.capri about efi. (I don't think he comes here any more) There's a TBI off a 3.9 coon which 99% fits one if those manifolds. He's a guru in that area. (Maybe I should drag you along to a TT one week/I'm long long overdue to show my face there.) Si's pinto with one of those things units (and a link ecu) went significantly better than a stinky old pinto had any business going. Ask @d.p.n.s about it.... 2 Quote
d.p.n.s Posted September 1, 2024 Posted September 1, 2024 Yeah all of the power you need comes from the head. I wouldn't bother with cossy rods and pistons (I'm running 12psi on a completely standard motor just with a set of arp head studs.).. Just a fresh rebuilt block will be fine...and then the rest is in the head.. Bigger valves, nice port job and a good cam have a chat to PK at kenneally cams he's the fucking man. As for injection as Bart said the CPI from a falcon bolts on to a pinto manifold and can be made to work with all the factory accelerator cable and mounts.......but its not great tech the injectors are old school now and I woild just go for a set of throttle bodies of any motor bike thats 600cc up even the injectors in ut will be fine and uts a basic manifold to make. You will need and ECU to run it and there are cheaper options out there ...but once you vo EFI its the extras that cost. The EFI sierra dizzy will make a good trigger for ecu or make a trigger wheel and sensor off the crank . ( it will all be just batch fired and wasted spark). (I run 2 triggers so its sequential injection and direct spark). But then the question is ........you go through all of that (and I'm happy to help if you need it) ..........why not just add a turbo lol 1 1 Quote
