I've had a quick play sroundd with a wood burning and a microwave oven transformer. The wood has to be much wetter than I expected, the stuff I was playing with was out in the rain for a few days but was still too dry to conduct nicely.

Or just Wang a few transformers together for max voltage/death and stand back

EP starlets are so damn cool.
If I could have a dream garage of cars I think a full bodykit factory turbo EP starlet would be in there.
The first time I saw a factory turbo one I couldnt believe it.
That and the first time I saw a Z20 soarer stick out in my mind was "WTAF!" moments for seeing cool 80s cars in the wild back in the day. haha.

Haha nah not on this thing - no amount of beer will make it ok for him to work on a silvertop 20v

Its got a stainless 2.5inch system feed by factory headers which have the factory squish - Ive been trying to convince him to grovel under the car but I'll likely end up doing it

Here's a little song I've written in tribute to the 20v, set to the tune of What's my age again by Blink 182

Nightspeed drags, on a Friday night
Put helmet on to get the feelin' right
We started burning out, we started spinning cranks
But then the car it stalled on me

And that's about the time VW walked away from me
Nobody likes you when you're twenty-vee
It's got too many valves and it shows
What the hell is 16V?
My friends say build 4age again
build 4age again?
build 4age again?

Then later on, on the drive home
I called my mom from a payphone
I said my silvertop it handles like on rails
But I took a drag based sodomy

And that's about the time that bitch hung up on me

20v Jokes aside this car has come together awesomely, great work.
Cant wait to see it / hear it!

Are you going to do anything further apart from fix the exhaust when someone gives your welder back

Is @kpr going to give it a VVTI upgrade from the factory VVT?

Does it have a @kpr exhaust?

if only mr toyota carried on with the 16v head, added itb's, vvt/i and the bigger cams like the 20v got

Just minor bits and pieces to make it tidy - its not bad as is but I tend to get a bit carried away.

Then it might be for sale after that.

Me too! If KPR's Hilux is anything to go by it should be fun especially in a light car.

Ive got a GTX2867 series 2 turbo sitting on the shelf which is the next size up from whats on the Hilux. I havent quite decided if it will make it onto the 86 or upgrade to the starlet then buy something else. It will depend a bit on the budget at the time I guess.

Stu's  engine is basiclly the fancy version of whats in the Hilux,  which is vvti  long rod turbo, but built from worn out old junk and a weird cam combo.

@Stu  is going to run a g25, so we can make a nice easy 300kw at 10,000rpm

I was going to say a pulsar g25 (4849) (or a Garrett if you have the coin) would be a great match maybe with a .72 I'd your going for all the revs

Though I can't remember what diff/gearbox he's got so may not love the power haha.

Ok so the Hilux will be a great comparison, but you've also set that up for different duties to what the 86 will be doing right?

The Hilux videos you posted definitely shows how capable the setup is

Yeah hilux is setup to have the widest powerband possible,  rather than huge numbers.   it maxes the 2860 out pretty easy.

havent have a 2860 and g25 on same engine.   but the g25 looks to come on 500rpm or so later  than a 2860.
with the vvti  and different cam combo i was able to get the 2860 to come on 600rpm sooner.    so should be able to get the g25 to come on like a 2860 on a normal 4age.    probably even better since is more of a feat to pull the boost threshold down from 4000rpm to 3400rpm.    than it is from 4500 to 4000.   since 4ages dont really do much down there.

So having something that will come on sub 4000rpm  and easy make 300kw, would be weapon in an ae86.
cool thing is, since it will be happy to make the power at high rpm, can run a boost ramp to make big power up top, while keeping the cylinder pressures down.    long as the maxchinarods stay in the block rpm wise, decent power wont be that taxing on the engine
