dmulally Posted September 28, 2025 Posted September 28, 2025 Hello all Nissan ED33 from a bus. Does anybody know what this line is that is hanging off the back of number 4 injector? Quote
Mof Posted September 28, 2025 Posted September 28, 2025 It's a return line, you see it goes to a banjo off all 4 injectors. 1 1 Quote

It's blocked up so I didnt know what it did. If that's the return line, what is the line at the back of the injector pump with the small white filter on it? I thought that was the return. I got the engine running with a hose into a erry along with the inlet hose into the same jerry so couldnt see which was doing what. Runs like a bag of shit but I dont think it has been running in 30 years so it is what it is. 3 Quote
Mof Posted September 28, 2025 Posted September 28, 2025 The injector returns to the fuel pump. At full throttle if the pump is supplying more fuel than the injectors can handle then it returns. The fuel pump has a return also back to the fuel tank 2 Quote

Do you know roughly where on the pump the small line from the injector goes to? Would it help if I took a few happy snaps? Quote

dmulally Posted September 29, 2025 Posted September 29, 2025 What I might do is unclog it at the end and when it's warmed up give it the jandal to see if anything comes out. If it does I'll loop it back to the fuel tank somehow. The only problem I'm worried about is if when revving it out the smoke that comes out will bring unwanted attention from the ladies. We all know what soot gets. Quote

Tbh I never took a lot of pumps off, heads and injectors yes. 1 1 Quote
Hemi Posted September 29, 2025 Posted September 29, 2025 Man I'm jogging my memory hard but it doesn't go to a 2 way banjo does it? Just straight back to the tank with the return One outlet on banjo for main return, one tiny one for the injector Quote

It's just chopped off and clogged full of ancient oil and grease at the moment but I did think about plumbing it into a T piece on the return line from the back of the pump. Quote
Sunbeam Posted February 23 Posted February 23 Hello experts. I have acquired a PJ Ranger that misses and huffs raw diesel out the tailpipe from cold start. When warm it runs mint and goes hard. I removed and tested the glow plugs. They seemed ok but looked 1000 years old, so I fitted a fresh set. No difference. Is there injector behaviour that could cause this? I kinda thought overfuelling made black smoke, and there is none under any circumstances. Quote

No Expert on rangers or lighter vehicles but that sounds like a blocked, worn or cracked injector. raw fuel/ white smoke is unburnt diesel, not partially burnt ( black) . essentially super hot diesel vapor. I'd check them 100% as if its the pattern or port worn/damaged it might end up gas axing its way through the piston. 4 Quote
Hemi Posted February 23 Posted February 23 Maybe more a @Yowzer or @AllTorque question? ( for lighter vehicles, not the brand specifically) Quote

mjrstar Posted February 23 Posted February 23 Time to check that it has compression on all the cylinders. 1 Quote

I have also found some damning evidence in the glovebox, a receipt for injector testing and cleaning with a comment that they “failed in some areas, customer advised” Quote
