shadow69
Hey all, I need some advice please I'm pretty sure my carburettor is a major problem in trying to get my baby running right. Can anyone tell me where I maybe able to find another or is there a different sort of carb that I could put on her? Would appreciate any advice, thanks in advance Cheers Shadow
ESKIN8R
Hi there, Does it have the 997 engine? You may be able to clean and rekit the carb rather than replacing it.
Valiant
What are the symptoms? There is a good chance it's not your Carb.
shadow69
Hey it's a 997, I've done a kit on it and given it a good clean out car was running fine. Symptoms are idles ok but when put under load loses power and coughs and splitters
Jorden
Mine currently does a similar thing, standard 997, idles sweet but when you when put your foot down its starts to die + coughs etc. Once you get it up in the revs its fine, but makes it very hard to take off. Also does anyone know where I maybe able to source a carburetor mine is really tired. with the engine off, turn it over until you find the timing mark on the pulley, then clean it with a wire brush and put some white paint on the timing mark. Do the same with the numbers on the timing cover and that will make it heaps easier to see when you are using the timing light.
cletus
Another thing to check is when you put new points in, make sure you clean the contacts with solvent, they have a coating on them to stop them corroding and it can cause problems if you dont get it off
