dozydesmond
Day One, 21st October, 2014: Removed plugs and fired CRC down the bores, removed the pushrods and rockers, removed the intake and exhaust manifolds, removed the water pump, removed the oil filter, removed the vacuum system(?). Drained the oil, and got 4l of water out, 1l of oil and quite a bit of sludge Also, discovered the #1 cylinder was choc full with water ^Build Loggy enough for you? ^

Big Louie
Might have some leftover parts you can use from my rebuild if you need anything.
dozydesmond
What have you got??? and how much do you want for them???(sorry, you just made me a little excited there...)
dozydesmond
filled the bores with half a can of crc/diesel mix. now just to wait for a week or two
felixx
good work, I have a grease gun and some grease you could use, if you made an adaptor out of a spark plug (involves replacing head) Josh Helm did this and it worked
dozydesmond
grease gun and grease for? (your link doesn't appear to be showing)
ajg193
Pump it into the cylinder when you have the head on, it will force the piston down.
dozydesmond
ohhh thats a good idea. ill have to try that
dozydesmond
has anyone got an engine stand i can borrow? or at least some RHS steel or pipe so i can make one?
Benno
To be honest, it looks to me a lot like all of the bores will be pitted from rust anyway, needing bored out and new oversize pistons. You might still need to soak it to help to get them out, but I would not have any problems with just bashing the shit out of the pistons with a hammer or something until they come free
dozydesmond
Im doing exactly that. except using a piece of wood between said hammer and said piston
kyteler
Smash the piston with the hammer, who cares, you'll likely need to replace them anyway. Or, put a powerbar on the crank and try turn it instead of smashing pistons.
Benno
If you haven't already taken the crank out, I would do so before hammering away on the pistons, it will be a lot easier to free one up then 4 together. Or try kytelers strategy first perhaps
dozydesmond
Cranks already out. my plan of attack is 50/50 diesel/crc and fill the bores from the bottom, leave for a couple of day (currently only been 1-2). flip over and fill the tops with the same mixture then leave for similar period of time. after that, smash them out with a block and hammer (might be able to get something for pistons u see )
dozydesmond
and the only pitted bore would be #1 cylinder
felixx
how about lighting the diesel to get it to heat up and expand and break any corrosion joints
dozydesmond
not sure if i should take you seriously, or if you just want me to ruin my block so u get free food...
