  2. Come on, I don't wanna choke it Anyway, gotta get a Morris running for a mate tomorrow (wish me luck), so skoda on sunday
  3. I had to Google that. I may also have slight Mechanophilia
  4. Found this in my bosses Identicar books. Adjusted for inflation, that's something like $21,000
  5. Bit late for a ride now methinks ill try get to the next one tho, my daily (with freshly rebuilt engine by yours truly) is going for its wof tomorrow so I should definitely have transport

  9. Alright project is now officially revived! So, couple bits of news, im renting a 6mx6m double garage for my projects (I picked up two Jowett Javelins and very quickly outgrew the driveway... 7 cars total...) skoda is first on the list, its getting put in there this weekend and started on straight away. Also, a few ideas, help me out here: vehicle was manufactured in Czech republic, so would it be cool or interesting to change the dash writing to Czech with English underwriting? I thought it might add some retro appeal
  10. Apologies for the double post, but if u guys are doing the Sheffield etc run, check my post from bottom of last page
  11. Just an idea guys (I'd have to run it past the olds first anyway lol) but im In goon, and depending on numbers, you guys could all drop by for bbq lunch or something, sit around, swap yarns. Allows u fellas to cool down after the drive, and allows me to check out ur rides and listen to your stories (4 1/2 cars, none roadworthy...). All I'd ask is everyone chip in, someone brings meats, someone brings drinks, or whatever. Thoughts?
  12. So as my main thread has stated, project has stalled for now. BUT it will be revived soon, as well as a few other projects being undertaken, such as: a mix-n-match Morris Minor (Very Late model series II (the one where they had started putting Minor 1000 bits in) powered with a series MM 918cc sidevalve, and a series MM grill), an Engine Workshop, DIY engine test stand, DIY vehicle rotisserie, DIY Acid dipping (for engines), and hopefully some engine rebuilds and re-stores (if i can source some cheap/free non-running/rusty engines). Again, feel free to ask questions, tell me off, whatever
  13. So, as many of you probably guessed, this project has stalled. BUT it will be revived soon, along with a couple of other projects being started (mix-n-match morris minor s-II, engine workshop, engine testing rig, DIY acid dipping, DIY engine dyno) more info soon, feel free to ask questions in the discussion thread
  14. Floor rust Jumping the starter. Connect positive up to the solenoid and boom, engine cranks over, without ignition of course
  15. Have made a decision. Vehicle will henceforth called "Skotty the Skody Skoda", pronounced like `Scotty`
  16. So got home after work, decided to give a mate a call to see if he wanted to help me. cue 3 hours of ranting at the uselessness of Czech Auto-Electricians... ... anyway ... got the engine to crank over without firing, but not from the ignition (which, as i discovered, was numbered, but not wired as the wiring diagram said ). just jump-started the solenoid from the battery also, discovered rust under the mats in the front, cue loud swearing, with answering swearing from irate/irritated neighbors... anyway, todo list, as it stands: (urgent semi-urgent can-wait minor aesthetic) remove spiders and rubbish, aswell as parts of the bush it was in for 6 months find the rest of the rust (remove guards and check chassis rails, and remove the rest of the carpet) source panel-steel (does anyone have any bonnets, boots, doors, guards they don't want? any make/model, just want them for the panel-steel) cut out and replace rusted panel steel sand out the surface rust and undercoat it Replace the exhaust system sort and lube the door hinges remove and replace door-cards sort the wiring (will redo loom myself when restored, that way i can actually make sense of it) sort the ignition panelbeat the dents out drain and replace the oil source the radiator leak (there was the equivalent of 8L of bottled water in the trunk, and the radiator was dry. make your own assumptions) fix the aforementioned leak fix the minor stuff (loose fittings etc) get custom-made chrome grills, badges, and possibly other stuff WILL ADD MORE AS MORE STUFF COMES TO LIGHT. WOULD LOVE OPINIONS
  17. finally got home, AFTER 5 hours in the drivers seat (Dad was available to drive some of the way but i decided to shove him in the passenger seat. aren't i nice? ) anyway, pics of the trip and of the skoda: Woke in Omarama to this, couldn't stop giggling all the way to cromwell: Tow Vehicle (Kia Sportage, also mine) and the Vehicle we swapped for the Skoda (Ford Laser, my first car): Laser Again, she got snarly so we decided to put a muzzle on her Home now, looked under the seat, and found TWO, yes TWO(2) Original Skoda keyslots! (also note the unknown tool, its also a skoda original): Poor wee thing. just needs some TLC (AND A TON OF FLYSPRAY FOR THE SPIDERS!!!) Behold, Original Skoda jack: Dash, Again: Assorted condition Pics: Will put up a basic todo list tomorrow, its too late now EDIT: just found a set of snowchains in it too. SWEET
  18. Look what I picked up ^Notice the blatant advertising of my second job...
  19. I would love one if you have one spare your 110L, are you restoring it to factory or adding s few surprises in along the way?
  20. @Triumphant Maybe info from this could help you: Got it for $19 oftradememe
  21. i would rather not cannabilize your period radio my plan uses the face of a retro radio from the period, some (ok more like 20-50...) custom 3D printed brackets, pins, knobs, etc, to transfer the commands from the period twin dials back to the modern headunit cleverly recessed back a good 5-10cm the volume dial will still be the volume dial, but the tuner dial will actually be a function selection knob: 'tuning' the dial will actually be sliding a cam or something similar back and forth, while pressing the tuner knob will press down the modern headunit buttons using a spring-loaded pin on the cam Clever idea, do-able. and still looks retro, but with a MAJOR modern refit Any particular models stick out in your minds? Deluxe models would look cool
