I have had 5 of these... LOVING what you have done with it.  I am normally a hater of painted brightwork on English cars, but with those hubcaps black and the roof rack, this is seriously cool.  Really impressed with the overall look man, loving the damage on the guard with the black bumpers and yet somehow it still looks tidy.   Thumbs up, hope to see it in the flesh at nats sometime!

Hey I'm not super good with car electronics but have you checked the earth on your car? My escort was doing something very similar to that a while back (turn the key and nothing happens but could jump start it) I unscrewed the earth, cleaned all the contacts and also cleaned where they contact the body and boom! The car started first go.. Not to mention I was having issues with my lights and indicators working but they're all good now too.. Maybe just an idea..

PS your car rules..

There are only a very few things that can go wrong with these to cause this, If there is no clicking at all when turning the key round to start I would check the plug down by the steering column (4 way one) to make sure it hasn't  come apart. I that looks OK take the plastic off the column and check the wiring on the back of the switch (these are prone to dry solder joints here).

Check the solenoid (the bit the + lead from the battery connects to) to make sure the start wire from the key is connected (Small on on the side).

If things are clicking but not starting it is most likely the starter it self - I see you have already worked on this.

Best of luck

So I went to the beach hop this year (my girlfriend has a place in whangamata), and snapped this pic of you. Recently my friend and I bought a magenta Austin 1300 to do up, and so we found this forum and then I recognised your matte green machine so thought you might want the photo.

hahah thanks man thats sick!! :)

i decided im not going to sell it because i just like it too much to let her go.

thanks for all the advice too guys, i found out after pulling the ignition apart that the plug at the back of there ignition barrel has a key shape on the inside that turns with the key activating each stage of the ignition, i after pulling it out i found that this thing was completely stripped so when you turned the key it didnt grab on and move with it, hence not doing anything to start the car. i havnt been able to find another one anywhere so i have filled the hole with "knead it" and have calved it out to fit, so ill put it back and try it tomorrow hahah
