  1. Yes we still have Maggie but unfortunately it’s time to say goodbye - it’s been fun. https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/austin/auction-2505567865.htm?rsqid=af83af910db9493db683c024ce1a86bd-002
  2. Big countdown car park next to the b fuel on valley road. Not sure what's its like on a Wednesday but will check it out.
  3. From the driver information thingy To ensure the organisers meet all health and safety obligations, all cars must be on site by 9am and cannot depart until 3pm (on approval by organisers and for emergencies only, a vehicle may be able to escorted o -site by parking marshals. Please seek assistance in this instance from the Information Tent).
  4. Welcome to the gang, we need to organise BMC foamer stickers and mugs.
  5. Procrasti-shopped a photo from Beach Hop... maybe one day.
  6. Love this. How are you uploading your photos? If you upload them to an external site then link them to your post you can have much higher resolution.
  7. Username is NZGT4 on here, not sure how much he uses the forum though...
  8. "Not necessarily a good idea as the Vacuum is not controlled. In the HS type Carbs (and most others), the Vacuum take off for Vacuum Advance lines up with the Butterfly such that at Idle, there is next to no Vacuum for the Advance. This reduces the likelyhood of overheating while waiting at Traffic Lights and the like." Overheating vs bad fuel economy.. seems like its best to go for the lesser of two evils...?
  9. Turns out the carbs are off a late model cooper S which didn't come with vacuum advance. The ports with the Y connector are for the flywheel housing breather. http://www.theminiforum.co.uk/forums/topic/318572-twin-su-carbs-dont-have-a-vacuum-advance-nipple/#entry3401538

  11. So we recently picked up some twin carbs off Samdash's 1300... They have AUC870 and AUC871 on each of the body castings. Our current single carb setup uses a single 1 3/4 su carb. The issue: Currently... We have the timing cover (AKA clutch cover AKA fly wheel housing) venting straight to the atmosphere through the v. We have our rocker cover also venting straight to the atmosphere. The vacuum advance from the dizzy plugs into a little nipple on the front of the carb. There is no other vacuum port on the carb. All is well. With the new twin carbs... There is a vacuum port on each carb, currently joined with a Y piece (presumably for the flywheel and rocker cover ventilation). There is no vacuum advance nipple on either carb. So should we somehow plug the vacuum advance from the dizzy into Y piece and leave the flywheel and rocker cover venting to atmosphere? A bit of reading suggests the carbs are post PCV design or something... Any one understand???
  12. Yea we thought it might be for connecting to the flywheel ventilation... But then can't find anywhere to plug vacuum advance in...
  13. Quick update accompanied by some smaverage iPhone pics. New vs old: Got them in, a few nuts to tighten in super cramped places (just the usual) and a couple of mods to get to the new manifold to fit. Now just have to plumb in the fuel, connect throttle and choke, connect up rest of the exhaust (but not before a cheeky drive with just the manifold). Then give them a tune - anyone have any tips for this?
  14. Maggie's been chugging along nicely, no issues really except a loud banging noise on the motorway on the way to Zebra one day. Turns out most of the wheel nuts on the back left were close to falling off the end of the thread Picked up Samdash17's twin carbs and exhaust so double doort incoming. Might get a hold of an ultrasonic cleaner to give them a clean - should be a nice addition to the bae. Let us know how much power and simplicity we are losing here.
  15. Talked to a guy there who said there was a complete build thread of this mini.. Anyone know where it is??? Such a minter.
  16. How'd the wrapping work? Did you need to do much surface prep?
  17. Yea have been saying ill do it for ages but now that I've actually put some thought into it, it doesn't sound to hard. Reckon I could just use the schrader valves that are used with the hand pump?
  18. Only up to 300psi. Sounds primo.
  19. My dream is to have the hydrolastic suspension in the 1300 run through a pump/reservoir system. So i can run it high for day-to-day use, then park up and pump all the fluid into the reservoir to slam it. Is there such a pump - 12V 300PSI? What sort of safety valves and shut offs will I need? Haven't had much experience with hydraulics. Cheers
  20. Yea my guess would be linkage too - everything was turning as it's supposed to when we fiddled with it.
  21. Day 3: I think the Minis are starting to become suspicious.
