Raizer
I don't know Nissan codes yet Just need to know what diff and ratio?
glen
All R32's had a R200 Diff, ratio should be 4.3 or 4.1 ? if 5 speed, can't remember what the auto's ratio was. the Diff should also have the 3x2 bolt pattern.

glen
^ that tells me it's an auto skyline with a 3.5 Diff ratio.
Raizer
Cheers! Hmm 3.5 might be a bit too low, I want an r200 to gut for a better ratio center for my c200 live axle. Was thinking 3.7/3.9 could be good.
glen
stageas have a 4.0 : 1 diff.
glen
I have searched NS for hours and other webs looking for the various ratios available for the R200 diffs.I am getting conflicting information though. I would like to compile an "official" list and pin it or make it an article for people to find easier? What i was hoping for was a complete list of factory or aftermarket ratios even if they werent in silvias/skylines. For instance i found something about a 5.1 being in the front diff of a nissan 4WD.... but i cant clarify it. What i know so far is (i think its correct)...... 4.900 - C23 Serena SR20DE 4WD Auto 4.636 - C23 Serena SR20DE 4WD Manual, C23 CD20T 4WD 4.375 - R32 RB20DET 4WD, A31 Cerfiro RB20DET 4WD 4.363 - R34 RB25DE 4WD, R34 RB25DE Manual, R34 RB20E, R33 RB25DE 4WD, R33 RB25DET Auto, R33 RB25DE, R32 RB20DET, R32 RB20E, C35 Laurel RB25DE 4WD Auto, C34 Laurel RB25DE 4WD Auto, C34 Laurel RB25DE Auto, C33 Laurel RB20DE Manual A31 Cerfiro RB20DET, A31 Cerfiro RB20DE Manual, S13 CA18DET, S13 CA18DE, C23 Serena SR20DE 2WD, C23 Serena CD20T 2WD 4.111 - R34 RB25DET Auto, R33 RB25DET Manual, C35 Laurel RB25DET Auto, C35 Laurel RB20DE Auto, C34 Laurel RB25DET Auto, C34 Laurel RB20DE Auto, S13 SR20DE (ABS), 4.083 - R34 RB25DE Auto, R33 RB20E, R32 RB20E (ABS), C33 Laurel RB20DE Auto, A31 Cerfiro RB20DE Auto, S15 SR20DE, S14 SR20DET Manual, S14 SR20DE Manual, S13 SR20DET Manual, S13 SR20DE (ABS), S13 SR20DE 3.916 - S13 SR20DET Auto, S14 SR20DET Auto, S15 SR20DET Auto, A31 Cerfiro RB20E. 5 & 6 bolt 3.692 - S14 SR20DET ADM Manual, S15 SR20DET Manual. 5 & 6 bolt 3.583 - R33 RB25DE Auto, C33 Laurel RB20E Auto
Raizer
Mint, looks like s14 could be the go then. The benefit with the 3.5 is I can get it for fuck all $ /prob welded, car looks to have drifted into a power pole.Should really work out exactly what ratio I'm going to need, speedo is sweet with the 4.3 diff and 185/82/14 tyres.Looks like I'll be going down to 195/60/14s, still baloony but cheap and 50s looked tiny next to the car. Edit: just for my reference later when I forget haha If I go down to 195/55 I need a 3.7 diff, 195/60 is 3.9. An A31 diff shouldn't be hard to find. ryanfels
Being a nissan skyline, its most likely been played with so who knows what ratio could have been swapped in after the owner tried a sweet roll back and blew the diff to pieces
kyteler
Dude, go to 3.5, you have enough torque in the diseasel to coast at max glide and your fuel bills will be cheap as chipperoos.
HighLUX
Defo go 3.5. They are pretty hard to comeby, had someguy pay moonbeams for mine and drive halfway across the NI to get it
brocky41
Lower the better - spesh when diesel - if your runnung smaller tyres (which you will because slam) a 3.5 / 7 will help to bring the revs down and also bring speedo down (for example if doing 100kph on GPS, speedo would say 80. iin this example you would be travel 80kms on the odo to 100kms actually travelled, meaning less diesels kms to buy). I know its cheating but for exactly the same wagon as a petrol, you pay $100 roughly less in your rego, Y? you ask, because diesel and thats shit because you pay for kms on top of that. So by running the speedo slower you still have a speedo that works but you make the difference in rego $$ back. Sorry to ramble - i did this in my r30 wagon and ran large tyres also - but i know yuoll want the small tyre look lol
Raizer
Good points, will go and whip the cover off the 3.5 on Monday and see if it is still a 3.5/not welded/not viscous. I was hesitant on having the speedo too far out as I thought cops got you to drive x amount of Ks then checked your odometer? Had had the idea of stripping the speedo and running just the odo off a switched stepper motor... ...not that I would do a naughty thing like that of course. Raizer
Finally got around to pulling the R200 out of the R32 today, it is an open 3.5 ratio in what looks to be mint condition! Did a quick comparison and yeah from the outside at least the C200 and R200 centers look identical*, if I wanted to get fancy and make new handbrake cable mounts I could even bolt the finned alloy R200 rear cover onto my live axle. Still kinda think a 3.7 or 3.9 would be the way to go though? *Bar my C200 having had axle tubes smooshed into the sides of it, and the R200 having the 2 bolt holes on the nose.
